Great location and convenient to attractions. Well kept for an older resort. Sometimes older is better than the new fancy highrises.

Cozy and comfortable

Posted Mar 25, 2015
We arrived a little early but the hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. We went out to the beautiful beach where we were well taken care of by friendly staff. The room was neat and clean, though a little smaller than I am use to. Overall, it as an enjoyable to experience. We wish we could have stayed longer.

Location: Great location near Beach. the nature park over the road is a great walk.
The Sandcastle resort is an excellent facility on the beach at Sarasota. The Rooms are clean and well apportioned, comfortable and relaxing. tje resort provides many facilities which are of an excellent standard, pool, becah chairs, games and a pleasing restaurant and bar.

The hotel was right next to a beautiful beach, has wonderful pools, but the carpeting in our room (133) was filthy.

Beach Experience

You cannot beat location for closeness to the beach and shopping/restaurant area. Restaurant, staff and pool were excellent. Rooms were clean but are in serious need of an update.

Old Floridian Hotel

We had a great experience and would totally go back. The hotel is old but clean, charming, and feels super safe. The staff was lovely. The beach is beautiful and they provide chairs, umbrellas and towels. The adorable town is just a couple blocks away. We were sorry to leave!

Perfect location on Lido Key.

Posted Mar 13, 2015
Pros: Location perfect. Nice private beach with no intervening road. Nice interior court yard with outdoor dining. Ate breakfast outside every morning.
Cons: The rooms are excellent. Some work is needed on the public areas. Price just too high for me now.
Location: Close to Lido Key Park and a long walk to St Armand Square. Excellent.
The Sandcastle is under new management. The rates have gone up significantly. However renovation work was needed and the new management is working on this and accomplished much. At this juncture, Winter 2015, I though the room overpriced for what I got.

Almost Perfect

Pros: Staff. Midwest vibe of warm and friendly guests. Nice pool. On site restaurant. Free shuttle downtown. Live music on weekends.
Cons: Tiki bar customer service. Need shuttle to take guests to a grocery store, too expensive to take cab.
Location: St Armands circle has lots of shops and restaurants. Great beach when not being dredged. Good fishing.
This was our second time at this hotel. We love the beachfront location, midwest clientele/vibe, tiki bar, warm inviting pool area, free bottled water, on-site restaurant, and friendly staff. It is an older property, but well maintained. Unfortunately we were there when the beach was being dredged/restored right in front of the hotel. There was 24x7 beeping equipment, a rotten egg stench, lots of sand flies - and no beach access for the first 4 of our 6 days. We thought they might give us a break on the price, but no such luck. So, we did not sit on balcony or go to the beach until the last day. Most of the staff are really nice. One bartender, Missy, could use some brushing up on her customer service skills. Brusque and abrasive. We loved the live music on the weekends, free shuttle to downtown area, and readily accessible pool towels. Be aware of the automatic 18% gratuity on restaurant charges. Ask for a beach front room on upper floor.
