Hidden gem!Posted Feb 17, 2015
Pros: Location to a quiet non-commercial beach, short drive to more popular areas. Room was clean, quiet, and comfortable.
Location: Sooo many things to do, lots of restaurants, shops, state parks, fishing piers, kayak and bicycle rentals...you name it...it's probably here!
If you are looking for a fancy location with staff everywhere this is not the place for you. If you are looking for a quiet homey place to stay that is clean and close to the beach this is it. The room was very cute, bed was comfortable, and the location was perfect. Pool in the backyard and beyond was miles and miles of white beach on the Gulf of Mexico with very few people out there. Each morning I went for a run on the beach with only a few (literally 3 or 4 people walking or running) and the only sounds I could hear was the surf and the birds. Silver Sands has reclining beach chairs on the beach, and while it wasn't sunbathing weather, they were nice to sit in while watching the sun set over the gulf. I would definitely stay here again!

Nice hotel -- beautiful view!Posted Feb 7, 2015
Pros: See above -- plus the full kitchen.
Cons: All was fine.
Location: Near excellent restaurants, fine wine stores, good take-out food, a full supermarket, etc. also near upscale St. Albahn's Circle (sp) and Sarasota.
Don't judge the book by its cover! Looks like a 1970s motel in the middle of modern high rises. But inside are spacious, well-appointed rooms with full screen porches overlooking the lovely pool area and a perfect beach. centrally located.

Warm, Quiet, FloridaPosted Feb 1, 2015
Pros: I loved the fact that it is small-only 34 units. There were not more than 30 people on the beach at anytime. The white sand beach goes on forever.
Cons: The furniture could probably be updated.
Location: Armands Circle is about 5 miles south so is the aquarium. Bradenton Beach is about 3 miles to the north. Straight up the highway is Anna Maria.
Longboat Key is a quiet island off the shore of Sarasota. The beach at the Silver Sands is remote and untouched. If you are looking for high rise condos and a lot of nighttime action, this is not the place for you. There are plenty of restaurants within 10 miles. The grocery store is about 3 miles down the highway. Go to Harry's--store, restaurant, and carry out. We just relaxed and soaked in the warm sun or swam in the heated pool.

Relax on the beachPosted Jan 31, 2015
Pros: The location was superb and the staff were very helpful!
Location: The Blue Dolphin is great for breakfast and Chart House is fantastic for dinner!
The Silver Sands is one of the most relaxing places I have stayed. The staff is very helpful and the location is superb!! The only thing between our room an the gulf was the pool. The provided lounge chairs were the perfect place to relax and watch the surf. Long walks, either north or south along the pristine beaches were the best!! Dining at the Chart House was an added bonus.

Best beach in Florida. Beautiful.Posted Jan 21, 2015
Almost perfect. The front desk staff not familiar with things around the island. But we learned from the locals while walking on the beach. Great lunch at Harry's just a quick walk away. Also loved Star Fish Company for fresh fish and local old school Florida surroundings. Fishing was good with the charter from Star Fish also.

Wished I could have stayed longer than 1 night!Posted Jan 15, 2015
Quiet, cozy and comfortable room with luxury bedding, refrigerator, microwave, DVD player and cable TV (all looked new). Right on the Gulf of Mexico beach, with plenty of places to safely walk --either on the beach itself or along Gulf Bay Drive--yet close to restaurants, attractions, shopping and night life. Ample free parking at the resort, which I love (I hate places where you have to pay to valet park your car). Office/front desk hours are only 9 am to 5 pm, but the staff easily accommodated my need to check in after hours, Also, for the location and my stay being during the height of the season, the price was very reasonable. Only suggestion for improvement: the room was completely tiled with no area rugs, not even in the bathroom. Would appreciated if they had 1-2 rugs near the bed and bath to soften up the feel somewhat. Otherwise, would definitely stay here again and recommend it to my friends.

Lovely secluded hotel, very relaxed and private. If I get the chance I will return.
