Like walking into the old west!

Posted Mar 13, 2014
Pros: The authentic Old West atmosphere, which is capture quite well.
Location: An old west town, there are Snowy Range mountains nearby, the head of the North Platte River with river rafting, and Indian sites
Wonderful hotel and the experience is just like walking into a scene from an old western movie. Very authentic place. Small, yet very comfortable rooms. They have the old west feel to them yet with modern standards of tightness (that is no draftiness whatsoever), cleanliness, and the feel of home. The stairs and the floors creak which only adds positively to the ambiance. And the bar, nothing beats it for an atmosphere of a place where travelers find a refreshing stop along side the trail to relax and quench their parched throats. I will definitely be coming back!!

The hotel was awesome.

The hotel is old but that's what makes it so great and the food was the best/ I had the prime rib and it was the best I have had in 40 years. It melted in my mouth. The staff were so very nice. Nice little town to visit. If we go back that way I'm sure we will stay there again.

Not staying in this place again.

Location: I enjoyed the free 24 hour hot springs pool just about 6 blocks away.
Our room was room #10 and it was right above the hotel restaurant. It was a very warm day and we opened the windows that were directly over the roof which had the restaurants vents. The exhaust came directly into our room and we had to close the windows. There was a nice ceiling fan but no AC. I complained to the front desk and he said oh well the exhaust fans will turn off at 9pm. Nothing he would or could do about it. It was a hot night and after about 10pm I opened the windows to hear the rain and it sounded like ping pong balls because the roof is made out of tin! Not much sleep that night. In the morning we had two bags of coffee for a 4 cup pot. One was regular and one was decaf. We don't drink decaf and wanted another bag of coffee. We you couldn't find a person anywhere. The place was closed down like a ghost town. Quite a difference from the hopping restaurant and bar the night before. The morning was saved by convenience store just down the street gave us a free cup of coffee in our to-go mug!

Great people work here and they make great food

Posted Jul 26, 2013
Pros: Everything. Great location, great food, great scenery and great people.
Cons: They did not have an elevator.
Location: The hot springs were great, they had a few great stores that I enjoyed walking through. We ate breakfast at Lolly's and she made homemade croissants
I love this hotel. The people are very nice. The room was large and airy. It was very clean and had lots of towels. We ate in the dining room and the food tasted great and plentiful. Sorry they did not have an elevator, but for such an old building it was in great shape.

Enjoyable restful stay.

Pros: all was good!
Location: Was great for going up to Yellowstone from CO. If we had left in early morning, Saratoga might have been too soon to stop for the night.
This was a good location for us on the way up to Yellowstone. It was a good sized room and we loved having a couch. We took advantage of the hot springs, which was very well maintained. We didn't interact much with the staff, but everyone was very nice. We did have a meal in the restaurant, which was fine.

Disappointing

Posted Aug 14, 2012
Pros: Historic
Cons: Restaurant and bar closed on Sunday with no help in locating alternative food/drink.
Location: Remote. Small town.
We arrived on a Sunday to find a note guiding us to our room, which was fine, but the note indicated there would be no one until 10 a.m. on Monday to settle up the bill. Too late for us. Half the attraction of the hotel was their bar and restaurant which were closed on Sunday. Never saw this fact mentioned in any of the literature/ads. No information on the town and other dining/drinking establishments was provided. Room is not air conditioned - not a problem normally with the cool western nights, but if we had wanted to get a fan from the bartender (as the room information stated), we couldn't since the bar was closed. I will say it is a beautiful historic hotel, nicely renovated and comfortable. We stumbled on Tommy's BBQ which was delicious and the folks there directed us to the local grocery store for beer.
