Good, but not impressedPosted Sep 18, 2012
Pros: The spacious room.
Location: Far in the back of Huis Ten Bosch, but it's still fairly convenient since buses, horse carriages, and boats are available most of the day.
It's a nice hotel with nice decor and the price makes sense for the location, but it's nothing really impressive. The inside feels a bit dated and the restaurant was incredibly overpriced (even given the area). The good things about this place are that the view is pretty no matter what room you're in (I'm sure there are exceptions, but I didn't see them), the room itself is wide open with a fairly large bed (especially for Japan), and most of the staff seemed fluent in Japanese and English. Altogether I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5. It's basically an ok place to stay, but if you want to be wow'd, you should look elsewhere.

Excellent if you like a hard mattress.Posted May 22, 2012
Pros: Staff were polite and helpful.
Cons: Mattress was very firm.
Location: It is right in the middle of Huis Ten Boch. Great for visiting. You have to take a shuttle to the parking so don't forget something in your car.
The hotel would of gotten 5 stars if the bed wasn't so uncomfortable. It was just too hard for my pregnant wife and myself. I realize that in Japan a lot of hotels generally have hard beds but it is hard to give it thumbs up if you didn't sleep well while you were there. I have stayed in hotels in Japan that did have comfortable beds or at least the option for a more padded mattress cover. Overall the room condition was good. It had all of the modern conveniences you would want including a fridge. The room size was excellent for Japan. The room itself was a bit dated but it was well taken care of. Carpets in the hallways were stained and some trim in the room has shown its age. The hotel could probably use a minor refresh but nothing to excessive. The staff was excellent and were beyond helpful for anything we asked. I would say they went above and beyond. I think we found the 2900 yen breakfast to be pretty pricey for breakfast. There are cheaper options nearby. They certainly wouldn't be the only hotel to charge a lot for breakfast. I just find it absurd to pay that much for eggs, especially considering what you pay for the room. So if you like a hard mattress then I would say it is a great hotel. If you don't and want to get some rest then this may not be the place to go.
