Savanna, in Northern Illinois, is a city of approximately 3,000 residents.
Springfield, the state capital, is situated about 160 miles (257 kilometers) south of Savanna, while Iowa City is 75 miles (121 kilometers) to the southwest.
Two of the most interesting local exhibit spaces are the Savanna Train Car Museum and the Savanna Museum and Cultural Center, good places where you can take the family for a couple of hours of cultural exploration. Of the several museums around, these two are two of the more talked about.
Nature lovers will be pleased to discover that the local city also has several larger nature preserves with unique scenery and interesting local wildlife. Stretch your legs at Mississippi Palisades State Park and appreciate getting back to nature and away from the paved streets.
Savanna’s major attractions often overshadow the city’s less visited, but equally rewarding sights such as the Fulton's Dutch Windmill.
