not your chain hotel

Posted Oct 16, 2014
Pros: frindly and comfortable
Location: colonial cemetery where a lot of haunted tours start is only 2-5 minute walk away , the riverfront is 5-10 minute walk
the 1790 inn is not your average chain hotel. it's local characteristics are which sets it apart from your chain hotels and make it unique . for one it is like houses of it's era with updates over time , it is small with only 19 rooms , i believe. it is family owned and managed. all employees are friendly and kind. it is in the heart of savannah's historical district, a 5-10 minute walk to the riverfront and a 3 minute walk to colonial cemetery . the food served is of high quality and the bar atmosphere is very friendly. rooms are comfortable , i stayed in room # 104, room #204 is the haunted room .it had a separate entrance , hd tv with cable, a small refrigerator ,shower , queen sized bed, 2 comfortable chairs, with a hair dryer in the bathroom.the air conditioning can be adjusted to what you like , it is not set at a certain temperature ,very comfortable. continental breakfast till 9:30 am , maybe 10:00 am, brunch on weekends. bar is open till midnight .

Pros: Location is everything.
Location: Many historical sites, the riverfront, weekend, one block from square, walk to shopping, walk to restaurants, walk on tours. No need for rental car.
Our experience was great. Lots to do. Walking distance from everything. Festivals on the riverfront. Everyone was helpful.

Nice Inn close to downtown.

Posted Sep 28, 2014
My boyfriend and I just spent a night at the 17hundred90 inn. Since driving up from Florida we arrived early (10am) in order to spend majority of the day in Savannah. We parked at the inn and went inside. The wonderful woman informed us though check in was not until 3 that we could come back at 2 and the room would be ready. She then gave us the parking pass so we could leave our car and walk around until check in. She also offered maps and options for local activities. Upon returning at 2 we checked in and received our key. The main doors close at 10 but you receive a key to the side door for after hours. Lucky for us our room was right next to the side door. Which was wonderful due to us staying out late. The room was very clean. Immediately after checking in we took a wonderful nap in the comfortable king size bed before going back out to walk around. We walked in as a ghost tour was standing by the side entrance talking about the inn upon return that night. However once inside you could not hear anything outside. The inn was very quite and relaxing. The next morning we had breakfast before leaving. As we were enjoying breakfast the woman from the front desk came around asking if we had any plans for the day and made suggestions as to where to visit. A fantastic experience. We will be sure to stay at the inn our next time in Savannah.

Beautiful charming hotel

Beautiful worldly hotel with a lot of charm . Room 303 was amazing you have the whole top floor. But you have to be willing to carry your bags up 3 flights but worth it. The restaurant is elegant & great good. Great location

Not as nice as I had hoped

Posted Sep 11, 2014
Pros: The restaurant and location.
Cons: The quality of the room. The furnishings are nice and the bed was comfy. However there is a mold issue that needs to be addressed.
Location: The location is great. Close walking distance to most of Historic Savannnah's features.
When I arrived the staff was flustered. There was no one available to help me with my luggage immediately. When I went to my room it was very stuffy and smelled of mildew. After the first night my eyes were itching from the mold/mildew. When I got home my bags and clothes smelled like the room... It was gross. However the restaurant was nice and the food and waitstaff were very pleasant.

Old is fine, but....

Posted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: Location, nice breakfast
Cons: Humidity problems
Location: Lots! We love Savannah! It was our 4th time there, enjoy the food, the antique shops, walking along the river and just exploring!
Great location, very friendly staff. Nice breakfast. A little weird with tour groups constantly going by all day and night pointing at the Inn were the ghost lives! Whatever. Reasonably clean, a/c worked on a 100 degree weekend. Problem was humidity! Room felt damp and humid all weekend. So much that everything was sticky and damp when we left. When I got home and unpacked, I could smell the room on my clothes....
