Ok for 1 or 2 nights.Posted Nov 3, 2010
This Hotel draws the 20 something crowd which can get loud and frat house like. The walk to the nightlife area of town was about 20 minutes. A little far if you plan on stumbling back. There's no bar at the hotel but there is a nice game room you can byob and hang with friends all night. The pool was very well kept and inviting. The staff was soooooo nice and pleasant to deal with.

Hope I can go there again!Posted Jul 30, 2008
Everyone at the DeSoto was very friendly and helpful. I forgot my German passport there (luckily I could get back to Austin with my Texas ID), and they immediately mailed it to me. We rented very comfy beach chairs and an umbrella - convenient if you travel by plane and not by car. Those were set up at about 10 am - for us this was fine, it might not be for people who get up very early and want to go the beach immediately. You walk out of the back entrance of the hotel and you are at the beach, it's wonderful! The only thing I didn't like was the note we found in our room saying "Please leave my tip in the room" - I think this is a voluntary thing, and I would say hotel guests usually leave that in the room. The accessibility of the entrance could be improved - if you need to use the little ramp, the door is in your way; it should open to the other side.
