Not quite the standard that could be expected

Upmarket hotel let down by some details of service and convenience. Great location with views over park and within easy walking distance of downtown, but valet parking costs excessive and room cleanliness not to standards that one could expect. Consumables not always replaced adequately during the daily service and the prohibition of personal items in the minibar refrigerator ill considered and impractical. Staff on reception sometimes gave impression that guests are more burdensome than welcome.

A near miss, but a genuine miss.

The hotel is clearly a first-class place--and is priced accordingly. Nevertheless, it was very "cheap" in the amenities it provide. During "cocktail" hour in the concierge lounge, there were no cocktails--just wine and beer (and every glass of wine--the house label--after the first cost $7). No, I am not kidding. Similarly, if a guest on the concierge (i.e., most expensive) floor wanted bubble bath or bath salts, he or she was obligated to buy an entire bottle (for a mere $20 or $25). No, I am not kidding. If there was turndown service, I did not notice it--my room looked the same before I left for dinner as it did upon my return; the bed was not turned down, the single waste paper basket was not emptied and there was definitely no chocolate on the pillow. On the other hand, the room itself was spacious and comfortable and the hotel restaurant excellent. In sum, with a few gestures and a bit more graciousness the hotel would truly be first-rate, but in the meantime it falls well short of that ranking.

Opulent Wedding Evening

My wife and I stayed at the Mansion for our wedding night. I can say without reservation that this is one of the top 5 hotels that I have EVER stayed in. From the well appointed room, to the amenities and friendly and helpful staff, this hotel is first class.

Savannah Jazz Festival

Location: Forsyth Park is directly across the street so we were able to enjoy the Savannah Jazz Festival this weekend. Waterfront is an easy 10 minute ride.
Purchased a Deluxe Room which included breakfast. Room was satisfactory but the $30.00 stipend for breakfast wasn't sufficient to cover the cost of breakfast for three of us. The breakfast was just OK and each item including coffee, juice, etc was a la carte. Stayed over a weekend and there seemed to be quite a few weddings occuring. Normally wouldn't mind but every ceremony was held on the patio which prevented guests from using the pool. For a 4 Star hotel; the pool was very disappointing. Very small and univiting. Also the hotel charges $20.00 for parking. At these rates you think they would offer you a parking space.

great Hotel

The only issue we had was getting checked in. We arrived at 2:30 and did not get our room until almost 4:00. Other than that the service and the hotel itself were great.

Pros: Location was great, the rooms are big and the bed is very comfortable.
Cons: A Lot. See comments.
I was not thrilled but ok about having to share a kind bed with my 20 year old daughter, as although I had requested two queens, they were not available. The front desk worker could have been nicer, though. Also, when I asked for change for a $20 bill so that I could tip the valet, another front desk worker tried four different places in the hotel to get change, but told me he was sorry, they didn't have $1s. Another day, the housekeeper forgot to clean our room although we saw her and her cart just outside our room when we left at 10 am. Another day, we ate breakfast the the hotel restaurant and both ordered the express breakfast (to be received in under 15 minutes). I ordered yogurt, fruit and granola and my daughter ordered a bagel and cream cheese. All they had to do was toast the bagel. Really?? It actually took 15 minutes and there was only one other occupied table in the place.

Friendly, helpful, pro staff. Interesting, large, comfortable rooms. Colorful art at every turn Nice bar. Pool area more a concept than a feature, but still fine. Convenient, quiet neighborhood.

The pool is amazing, comfortable bed and huge tub. Close enough to river street and right on the park
