Nice hotel within walking distance of attractions.
Posted Jan 14, 2013
Pros: Walking distance to attractions.
Cons: Hotel Valet Parking is too expensive.
Location: Lots of nice restaurants, tours, sightseeing, historical homes, parks, river front all within walking distance.
First visit to Savannah and will go again. Loved the southern style food and the Sweet Tea is to die for! Everyone was friendly and all had a story to tell. So much history about our wonderful country.

Good but not great like it use to be.

Since Mariott bought the hotel the quality has gone down. No products in bathroom or newspapers. Quality of restaurant has slipped. Started staying there six years ago and have stayed a total of two dozen times.

Good for a romantic getaway
Posted Jan 10, 2013
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mansion. My husband and I went up for a weekend stay to celebrate our anniversary. I only had two complaints about the entire stay. We were in a third floor king room overlooking the pool and had a hard time falling asleep on Saturday night due to the noise from a wedding on the ground floor and a drunk guest out by the pool. In addition, the bed's fitted sheet was not big enough and would flip up in the middle of the night on both my husband and myself. Overall the room was very clean and nice. Even with those two issues, I would still come back to this hotel.

Everything my wife and I expected
Posted Jan 11, 2013
Pros: The room was great and the service was excellent. The restaurant on site is to die for and I recommend the roasted present.
It's was our 30th anniversary and I wanted to do something special for my wife. The mansion certainly fit the bill. I canno say one bad thing about our stay. Thank you to all the staff for taking such good care of us while we were thee.

When is a deluxe merely a standard?
Posted Jan 25, 2013
Pros: Beautifully furnished.
Location: Don't stray too far from the hotel on foot, at night.
Very nice, comfortable room. View was a rooftop air conditioning unit. Seems that there is a big difference between Expedia's definition of "deluxe room" and the hotel's definition.

Great Disappointment
Posted Jan 27, 2013
Pros: The hotel restaurant was very good, both service & food. Also the location was very desirable.
Cons: Lack of cleanliness.
Room service left a whole lot to be desired. Two nights in a row we placed our order and were not able to acquire their signature "Leopold's Old Savannah" ice cream which the town brags about only being available at the Mansion. Also simple salads were unavailable. Both times it was almost 1/2 hour before we even got a call back informing us of the unavailability. We had dropped a biscuit on the floor by the desk on the 1st night and the crumbs were NEVER cleaned up for the duration of our stay. We discovered that there was a makeup stain on one of the extra pillows & we left it out on the couch to be replaced....it never was. Bathroom light fixtures were very dusty. To end our stay, we were charged for drinks out of the mini-bar and we don't drink alcoholic beverages!! The hotel could be a nice place, but under the current management we will not stay there.

Always wanted to see Savannah... but
Posted Jan 23, 2013
Pros: Anticipation
Cons: Reality
Location: Has seen MUCH BETTER days
Over the top decor, over the top amenities... not good for teenaged kids or an older father. Food was good in the restaurant, however. They have "live amplified music" in the evenings... so it might become noisy... don't know... left before it was too late!

Great Weekend Getaway Spot
Posted Jan 18, 2013
Pros: Beautiful decor, but also very comfortable.
Cons: We could hear some street noises and hallway noises, from our room, but they weren't too loud.
Location: Great location, within walking distance of the river and most points of interest. Also across from a gorgeous park.
We unexpectedly stumbled upon one of the biggest weekend celebrations in Savannah, and had no idea what a big deal St. Patrick's Day was, but the hotel was extremely proactive, letting us know well in advance of our arrival that the surrounding roads would be closed on the day of our departure due to the parade. They made all the necessary accommodations, and were very well organized in making sure their guests were taken care of despite the festivities going on everywhere. In addition, the hotel itself was beautiful and unique. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the food in the restaurant was great. All of the staff members were friendly and helpful. On the whole, we had a fantastic experience and would gladly return to the Mansion on Forsyth Park!
