Nice for the price

Posted Jun 30, 2015
Pros: Cheaper than downtown and in a quiet area Good sized rooms
Cons: A few cosmetic updates - paint
Location: 15 minutes from Downtown 30 minutes from Tybee Island Near shopping and restaurants
This hotel was much cheaper than the downtown hotels while still being within a reasonable distance from downtown. There were still plenty of places around to eat and it was much quieter than downtown. The hotel was clean, the staff was pleasant and the pool was small, but never busy. There was plenty of seating in the breakfast area. We had a queen suite. The room was an acceptable size with a good sized living room/seating area. The carpets had just been cleaned and the title in the foyer and hallways looked new. The room could have used a fresh coat of paint/touch up, but the paint would not detour me from staying here.

Pros: Loved the layout, inside the hotel and in our room. Very Savannah, very southern.
Cons: They need at least one additional staff member available to assist. That includes at 6:30 am and 8pm
Location: The location of the hotel, while not downtown, was convenient to other amenities. There were several nice restaurants within walking distance.
The staff, while small in number, were kind and friendly. Because they had a small number of staff, I had to wait for my room (on the phone with a potential customer). Housekeeping staff were very friendly, and apologetic about not getting to our room.

Very nice hotel. Staff really helpful. A fair way from downtown but local bus service (route 14) bus stop only 5 minutes walk from hotel.

Very clean with a friendlystaff. Matress could use a make-over, but worth the money. I would recommend.๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Nice hotel convenient to shopping/historical sites

Posted Jun 27, 2015
Cons: Paint in the bathroom needed
Vacationed here for first time in the area. This hotel was exactly what we were hoping for! Spacious, comfortable room. Nice continental breakfast and helpful staff. Easy access to the things we wanted to do, and great shopping and restaurants within minutes. We would definitely stay there again.

Dirty Hotel

Posted Jun 23, 2015
Pros: Not much, fellow guest we spoke with did not to have much to say about it either.
Cons: Respect your guests and respond to their needs. Management needs an overhauling, someone needs to raise the expectations and hold staff accountable.
Location: Close to stores.
The worst experience was the dirty condition of the pull out mattress. I showed it to the staff and they recoiled at the sight of it. I was told that I would get a mattress cover to hide the stains, that took 2 days to get it. I was also told that a replacement mattress was not an option. Then upon check out, I was told that a new mattress was not delivered because I had a do not disturb sign on the door. Terrible disorganization and poor management made for a terrible stay. Also, there was a dead roach on the floor next to the door leading into the room, it was still there when we checked out. This still makes me cringe! One of the lowest standards of excellence I have ever experienced in all my travels.

The oglethorpe is very congenial

Posted Jun 22, 2015
Pros: Its location and pool and atrium
Cons: Room cleaning
Location: Large malls with sports stores, book stores and lots of restaurants outside the malls which are locally run.
The Oglethorpe mirrors Savannah itself. The staff are very congenial and helpful to visitors. It is located in a safe area and has lots of parking and shopping and restaurants nearby. It is easy to get downtown. Our room was spacious and the pool on a hot day was great. The rooms needed more cleaning and it looks like the hotel is being upgraded slowly. The Atrium is very cheery for breakfast and the concierge can see who is coming and going from the front desk which is a bonus. Great family or business hotel.

Pros: Convenient location.
My reservation through Expedia was lost. They confused me with someone else, and it took an hour to get a room. And then I had to switch rooms later that night (at the hotel's request). The room was clean but showing lots of wear & tear. Staff were friendly. I found a box of hotel keys in the lobby that was apparently left there by hotel staff, which was concerning.
