Pros: location
Cons: no breakfast

I think it would be nice if you had a continental breakfast so visitors would not have to go out early each morning.

Great Location!
Posted Jan 12, 2013
Pros: Location and staff
Cons: Mini refrigerators added to the rooms.. Only thing in my opinion!
Location: Everything is within walking distance so if you just walk out the door you will find something fun to do. Check out The Olde Pink House!
The River Street Inn is in the best location. Me and my husband went for our anniversary and we did not have to get in the car the whole time we were there, we just walked to everything. It was great! Our room was a river street view and the view was amazing just wish we would have planned ahead and asked for a room with a balcony. The appetizers and wine each evening was very nice and we meet alot of nice people. I highly recommend this hotel the only down side I personally found was that there was no frig in our room as we do not like to eat out for every meal even on vacation. Other than that it was prefect!

Great Hotel in Historic District
Posted Jan 10, 2013
Pros: The hotel is filled with historic details (in a converted cotton warehouse) and has tons of character.
Cons: There was a thermostat in our room but we were unable to set it to a comfortable temperature. It was either a bit too cold or a bit too warm.
Location: The Inn is right on the Savannah River (between E. Bay and River Streets) and is ideally located in Savannah's historic district.
We recently stayed 4 nights at the River Street Inn. Our room on the 5th floor (city view) was charming and spacious - and not at all the typical hotel room. The room was very clean and equipped with a non-working fireplace, 2 fireside chairs and period furniture (4 poster bed, antique dresser and desk) and had a good sized, well-appointed bathroom. We wished the 5th floor had public stairs to the lobby floor (which is on the 4th floor) and that the card-key required to call the elevator was a little less quirky (we sometimes needed the staff to assist) but this was a very minor inconvenience. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Overall, this is a wonderful hotel which we highly recommend.

great inn for a get away weekend

My husband and I were very pleased with our stay at the hotel. The room was a city view and was beautiful. The room had old world charm. It had a beautiful iron frame on the bed and an ornamental fireplace to add to the character of the space. The room was so clean and they had a turn down service each evening and left us wonderful chocolates for a treat. The bathroom was spotless. The hotel also offered a wine and cheese reception each evening for an hour or so which was a pleasant surprise. We were able to walk everywhere and being on the river, we just had to go downstairs to get to the river walk and the shops and restaurants. We also went on a tour of the city and the hotel staff made all the arrangements and the touring company picked us up right outside of the front door and returned us there when finished. We would definitely recommend the inn.

River front hotel, the best location!
Posted Jan 26, 2013
Pros: Historically elegant charm
Cons: Parking.
Location: Located on the River front, best location.
Great location on the river front, steps away from shops, restaurants river cruises, can walk to every thing the historical district. The free bus DOT stops in front. Room & Hotel nicely decorated in old historical period of southern Savannah as it is an old historical building. Some rooms are dark no windows or have windows located below street level. But it is old historical building that is how it was built back in the 1800 & 1900's. I loved it. You want modern with windows then stay at the Marriott. You want elegant Southern Historical Savannah charm stay here. My only complaint was parking. But I will definitely stay here again. Great Hotel!

Best hotel and location in Savannah.

We have stayed at the River Street Inn many times. They never disappoint. They know your face, if not your name whenever you return. Many thanks to Janice at the front desk, and the staff in the bar during the afternoon wine and cheese for taking care of us so well, every trip.

Nice historic building, missing amenities
Posted Jan 15, 2013
Pros: Great location, free drinks between 5 and 6pm.
Cons: No pool or hot tub, wi-fi feeble, parking off-site
Location: At the north end of Savannah Historic Downtown, right on the river. No need to drive anywhere, lots of good food close by.
This is a nice old restored building, right on the river front in the historic downtown. It's a great location if you're looking to spend your days touring old Savannah. The hotel is large, with multiple floors. Listen carefully to the directions given to your room, as ours was located on a floor only accessible by one path through the hotel. We found it a little pricey considering there was no pool or hot tub, but that's the price you pay for being right downtown. Parking is extra, and the parking garage is a block away behind the Holiday Inn. It's actually the public garage run by the city, but you get a pass card so you can come and go as you please. The Wi-fi access in the room was pitiful. You're better off just using your smart phone. The room itself was nice, but keep in mind this is a very old building and fixtures in the bathroom are dated. The AC unit looked like it was installed in the '70s. Overall was a nice hotel if you want to be close to the action, but if you're looking for more modern facilities like a pool, head to one of the chains.
