Get what you pay forPosted Jun 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
When we arrived it seemed like we were a bother. We had paid for a upgraded queen room but unknown to us until we checked we got the regular queen. When asked they did not deny it (you would think they would mention this at check in). But said you are not guaranteed to get the room you book... Unbelievable. Wont be back that is for sure. Kitchen staff was awesome though.

OFF THE BEATEN PATHPosted Jun 18, 2013
Pros: We loved the wine hour and the dessert hour, time to exchange ideas about adventures and explorations. Breakfast was splendid, great way to start.
Cons: More Chocolate at dessert time. (smile)
Location: Loved walking Bull street and the entire historic neighborhood, shops and Public restaurant, CVS , Goodwill, Bookstore, all places we spent time.
We found wonderful off the beaten path informatijon from ALL the staff and we delighted in the hidden corners of Savannah not on the MUST DO list. Truly a wonderful group of people , helpful, attentive and full of ideas, for someone looking for a Savannah experience not in the guide book.

We enjoyed our stay at this adorable inn. We stayed in the carriage house, which abounded with character. Additionally, the staff was friendly and very helpful. We will definitely be returning to The Gastonian when visiting Savannah in the future!

CharmingPosted Jun 7, 2013
Pros: Charming, comfortable and polite, pleasant staff. The hotel and surrounding area are beautiful and well maintained.
Location: We first took the trolley around the historic area and then went by foot to selected areas of interest. We enjoy history and antiques.
It was my first visit to Savannah but not my first B&B. Everyone was charming and helpful. With help we planned an evening ghost tour and did not make it back for the evening "goodies". Lance made a special plate for those on the tour and left them in our rooms with a note (small ghosts were even drawn on the note). We chose breakfast in our room and the choices were terrific. I hope to visit again and plan to stay at the Gastonian.

Wonderful breakfastPosted May 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
The staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast superb. The hotel was beautiful, however, when we stay again I would not choose the garden room. It was on the bottom level of the adjoining building and not bright and cheery at all.

Common areas were nice. Room was too dark with no place to sit together to have a drink. Room also needs a full length mirror. Kitchen staff was great.

Needs a good cleaning!Posted Apr 10, 2013 on Hotels.com
Room was charming with fireplace, brick walls and claw foot bathtub. However, carpets were dirty, and I had to clean the bathtub before using. We were in the carriage house - which is over the laundry room and maintenance room. When we arrived - there was so much noise coming from that room with the machines going and loud voices, there was no afternoon "nap" for us. We were assured that all would be quiet in the morning until 9:00 am - not so - dryers were going at 7:30 am. The upside - breakfast was very good, and we enjoyed meeting and talking with our fellow travelers over wine in the parlor in the afternoons. As there are many other bed and breakfasts in the area to choose from - I would most likely not stay at the Gastonian again.
