In the historical districtPosted Oct 28, 2013
Pros: The combination of ambiance and convenience.
Cons: The room was relatively small but this was not significant since we used it mainly to sleep.
Location: Location is perfect and close to shops and restaurants. Bistro 45 is probably the best restaurant in town and is located in the hotel.
This is an elegant and comfortable hotel in the heart of the historical district. It was an ideal place from which to explore Savannah for four days.

In the heart of SavannahPosted Oct 25, 2013
Pros: History, location, everything....
Cons: In our parting survey I mentioned the limited WiFi but no less than seven days later we received a letter for the Asst Innkeeper that it's resolved.
Location: See the Riverfront. Walk the cobble stone streets. Take a history tour and don't forget the romantic carriage ride.
Located in the heart of Savannah this Hotel was a pleasure to stay at. Not only were the accommodations nice but the location is a few minutes walk to the Riverfront. The staff was friendly and helpful and although the hotel was one of the oldest in Savannah it has been refurbished to today's standards while maintaining it's historic charm. Our stay was lovely and we just fell in love with Savannah and the Marshall House had a lot to do with it.

Cons: Everything was acceptable. I didn't have any problems during my stay.
Location: The hotel is located off of one of the busiest streets in Savannah. There are plenty of restaurants around.

Perfect locationPosted Oct 13, 2013
We stayed at The Marshall House at the recommendation of the bride whose wedding I was in town to photograph. The location is perfect-- right in the middle of everything, and an easy walk anywhere we wanted to go. I loved reading about the history of the hotel and imagining the many people who passed through so long ago. The rooms were elegant and extremely clean, and the staff was the friendliest I've ever experienced. Our room was a bit awkwardly arranged and on the small side, and our view was of the third level of a parking deck, but overall it was a very pleasant stay. We will definitely return!

was very close to all things that we had plannedPosted Oct 11, 2013
Pros: Was close to everything. The staff were all very congenial and helpful
Cons: Better cleaning of the room
Location: Visited several parks. Took two different bus tours. Visited River front several times.
Staff was very helpful. Breakfast and wine and cheese was great. Room could have been a little cleaner. Faucet in shower would not shut totally off. noticed dust under the bed.

Historical hotel with very nice staffPosted Oct 9, 2013
Pros: Clean - 1859 charm.
Cons: Try a balcony room
Location: Walking distance to many historical sites. Valet parked the car and never used it until we checked out.

Charming, elegant hotel close to almost everythingPosted Oct 5, 2013
Pros: Location; friendly, courteous staff; décor.
Cons: Free parking would be awesome.
Location: Close to just about everything. Easy walk to River St and many of the squares. Free bus had a pick-up close to hotel.
We arrived early and our room was ready. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Loved the "big house", windy-hallways feel to this place. The hot breakfast buffet was well-done with many choices including hot foods. We especially enjoyed the free wine and cheese reception just off the main lobby in the evenings. We try to wear T-shirts that identify where we're from (Pennsylvania) and our favorite college (Penn State) and were surprised at how many people approached us and started conversations. Our first full day we decided to take a trolley tour of Savannah, which turned out to be a good decision. The driver kept up a running narration of the highlights of the tour, which seemed to be about every other building. This gave us an idea of what to go back and see later.

Great old building but......(see below)Posted Sep 27, 2013
Pros: location, breakfast room, lounge area, friendly professional staff
Cons: take a good hard look at the rooms - I don't know if any others were like ours (#301) - and make some serious adjustments
Location: Every thing was well within walking distance, great food, entertainment and just walking through the beautiful town squares the place is famous for.
This is a truly charming building, updated to today's standards, the location is ideal and the staff really cares. That being said, the room was a disappointment. The floors were so slanted there was a considerable incline between the bathroom and the bedroom. As well, the bedroom was so small that it was not possible for 2 people to watch t.v. at the same time. There was only one "easy chair" we had to take the desk chair from the hall. |I would advise a prospective customer to see the room first before registering.

Charming hotel.Posted Sep 24, 2013
Pros: Location; facilities; staff.
Cons: I can't think of a thing.
Location: Right in the middle of downtown and in easy walking distance to many of the historic Savannah sights and attractions.
Conveniently located; well maintained, comfortable facilities; friendly and helpful staff; full bar and fabulous restaurant.
