Historic Hotel

Posted Apr 28, 2015
Pros: Location.
Location: Leopold Ice Cream was right down the street a block
It was a beautiful historic hotel. They served breakfast in the morning, which was nice. Good variety of choices, although I would have loved an omelet, waffle or biscuits with gravy. One morning they had sausages/scrambled eggs and the next morning a frittata. Juice/bagels/rolls/yogurt/rolls/cereal. My room was small, but it was just me, so that was OK. Nice TV up over the fireplace. When I opened the door to my room there was a window right in front of my face. I had to take several steps to the right to enter my room. So the only window in my room that looked over the air-conditioning unit was really in the entrance to my room. Kind of strange. The staff was very helpful. Nice reception area. Love how they have a pitcher of lemonade in the reception area all day. Wine an cheese in the evening was nice.

Lovely historic hotel and well located for all the sights of old Savannah. We had a well furnished and very comfortable room with excellent bathroom. The happy hour drinks every evening in the lobby area were a welcome touch.

The staff is excellent! The hotel is beautiful. It's old so it has its quirks, but that makes it beautiful!

Great location

This was a great hotel! We enjoyed our stay here, and the location was wonderful for shopping and walking through the historic district. I was really pleased with our choice. Personally, I didn't care to be right on the river, this location was much better.

I love weddings, but a lot of noise.

Posted Mar 30, 2015
Pros: The desk staff and bell men were very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Let guests know before they arrive that there is an event that might disturb their anticipated peaceful sleep/rest.
Location: It is three blocks over from River St. There are lots of quaint shops, beautiful artwork, historical sites, great food, and interesting statues.
We were tired when we arrived, but could not rest because of the wedding party that was going on. The music was loud and stayed that way until after 10:30 p.m. It was right outside our window. However, the assistant manager said that I was the only one who complained. Maybe it was because we came to rest.

Lovely historic hotel

Posted Mar 24, 2015
Pros: Lovely historic feel, great front desk staff (attentive and helpful).
Cons: The breakfast! Either do it right or just provide free coffee and tea and forget it.
Location: The Olde Pink House is just around the corner. Leopold's ice cream is across the street. Entire historic district is walking distance.
The staff was really top notch from helping with carriage ride reservations to arranging taxis and restaurant recommendations. The only downside was the "courtyard" facing rooms, which I thought would be more quiet than the street, faced into an indoor, interior "courtyard" that was used for functions, e.g. wedding receptions with thumping bass into the wee hours as well as the hotel's complimentary breakfast service that started at 7 am- so between the late night functions and early morning breakfasts, I didn't sleep terribly well here. The rooms are beautiful and the mattresses are comfortable but the pillows are very squishy and the standard bathrooms have only a shower, no tub. The provided toiletries were disappointingly standard for a boutique hotel (chemical smelling shampoo, conditioner than didn't condition and greasy lotion). The complimentary breakfast in the morning was so sad- it was barely a step above convenience store cuisine (I'm pretty sure the staff just took the cellophane off the muffins and danishes and served them up). The quiches were inedible (undercooked with WAY too much cream), the bagels were stale and the fruit was largely grapefruit (of which I am not a fan). So, to sum up, I'd stay there again but I'd request a fourth floor room (above the ceiling of the interior "courtyard") and bring my own shampoo and conditioner and pillow.
