Beautiful, historic hotel with very friendly staff
Posted Jan 9, 2013
Pros: We loved the way they have preserved the originality of the hotel.
Location: Must do's....trolly ride with Oglethorpe Trolly's, eat lunch at Mrs. Wilkes and shrimp and grits at Uncle Bubba's
The hotel was very nostalgic and well kept. From the moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed and pampered. The entire staff was very knowlegeable about the best places to shop, dine and directions to get where we were going. We can't wait for our next visit to Savannah and will be staying at The Marshall House.

Location, location !

I spent a few nights at the Marshall House with my wife and it is lovely and very charming. The location is walking-distance of all the major historic point of interest (City Market, The Olde Pink House, River Front, main Historic Squares..). The Staff is very friendly and helpful. The Wine & Cheese Receptions (Monday to Thursday) are delightful. The room (Superior King) was on the small side but very clean and functional. WE loved the southern flare of this institution. I highly recommend this hotel. Hope you'll enjoy too.

Tired B & b
Posted Jan 13, 2013
The breakfast was really ordinary for a B & B and everything about the place had a rundown feeling.

Would Probably Return Here
Posted Jan 11, 2013
Pros: Location, location, location -- as mentioned in my review.
Location: It's at the edge of the Historic District. I spent three days touring this area and never ran out of things to see.
Location, location, location -- that's what the Marshall house has for it in spades. It might not be your first choice if price is your first priority -- but in most cases you get what you pay for and I think over all the Marshall House is worth it. The staff is wonderful and extremely helpful. The hotel's ambience seems to suit a city like Savannah known for it's charm and history. It just doesn't seem right to stay in a place like the Hyatt when visiting Savannah -- I bet they don't even have a ghost. The Marshall House has several. The rooms are on the small side but this is an historic building and the rooms probably were small back in the olden days. But my rooms was clean and the bed are comfy and that's what really counts. Complementary wine and cheese in the evening in one of the beautiful common areas in the hotel was a nice touch. The breakfast was fine but after six days it did become a bit redundant

great hotel in central location

Pros: I like to stay in places that are not just "cookie cutter"' hotels. It has history and personality.
Cons: Are room was kind of small but do not know how that could be changed.
Location: Perfect location and if you are able to walk you could just about get anywhere in the historic district in minutes.
We loved Savanna and the hotel was located such that we could walk just about any where in the historic district. The room was very clean and the staff was great.

Great hotel in the Historic district of Savannah
Posted Jan 8, 2013
Location: Very close to all the things you want to see in historic Savannah. Just a short walk to the river, city market and house tours.
The Marshall House is a wonderful hotel in the perfect location in historic Savannah, GA. The staff was so friendly, and the included breakfast delicious! It is an old building, but beautifully restored with comfortable beds. The floors are original so they creak as people walk down the hall, but not too noisy. The free wine and cheese is a nice touch, but if you come in one minute past 7pm, you will be told, "sorry, you are too late". Bummer. Overall, we loved The Marshall House!!!

Historic District gracious old hotel
Posted Jan 22, 2013
Pros: Sun room breakfast
Location: Excellent location in middle of historic district, easy access to Bay Street, River front, restaurants
Everyone was gracious at the hotel. They greeted us in the hall, elevator, when we walked in the door. This hotel was built to be a hotel in 1858, so a different feel from the usual b&b house. The room was a queen, not large but comfortable, wifi hook up, charming old building, had an elegant old feel to it. (elevator to the 4th floor) The breakfast buffet was very well done in a lovely large sun room in the center of the hotel, quiche in addition to cereals, yogurt, bagels, muffins, fruit, etc., USA Today paper every morning. Great location in historic district, we walked everywhere. We would stay here again.
