Lovely historic hotel

Posted Mar 24, 2015
Pros: Lovely historic feel, great front desk staff (attentive and helpful).
Cons: The breakfast! Either do it right or just provide free coffee and tea and forget it.
Location: The Olde Pink House is just around the corner. Leopold's ice cream is across the street. Entire historic district is walking distance.
The staff was really top notch from helping with carriage ride reservations to arranging taxis and restaurant recommendations. The only downside was the "courtyard" facing rooms, which I thought would be more quiet than the street, faced into an indoor, interior "courtyard" that was used for functions, e.g. wedding receptions with thumping bass into the wee hours as well as the hotel's complimentary breakfast service that started at 7 am- so between the late night functions and early morning breakfasts, I didn't sleep terribly well here. The rooms are beautiful and the mattresses are comfortable but the pillows are very squishy and the standard bathrooms have only a shower, no tub. The provided toiletries were disappointingly standard for a boutique hotel (chemical smelling shampoo, conditioner than didn't condition and greasy lotion). The complimentary breakfast in the morning was so sad- it was barely a step above convenience store cuisine (I'm pretty sure the staff just took the cellophane off the muffins and danishes and served them up). The quiches were inedible (undercooked with WAY too much cream), the bagels were stale and the fruit was largely grapefruit (of which I am not a fan). So, to sum up, I'd stay there again but I'd request a fourth floor room (above the ceiling of the interior "courtyard") and bring my own shampoo and conditioner and pillow.

Perfect for a Savannah St. Patty's Day!

Posted Mar 19, 2015
Pros: The staff was wonderful, very friendly and helpful. Loved the location - perfect for my Savannah St. Patty's Day adventures!
Cons: The shower was tiny, but I won't let that deter me from staying here again.
Location: Location was wonderful for walking around Savannah during the St. Patrick's Day festival. Check out Abe's on Lincoln if you want a cool dive bar!
The hotel was beautiful and had lots of charm. I wanted a hotel that wasn't cookie cutter, and that's what I got! The staff was excellent - very helpful and friendly! I got in to town early, and was able to store my luggage with them so I could valet my car and start my Savannah adventure. Likewise, when I checked out, I stored my luggage so I could come back after lunch and get my car from valet, rather than cutting my activities short or trying to find parking. It was a wonderful location for walking around town; easy access to all of the festivities and places I wanted to go. The room has a homey feel to it, although the shower is tiny!! All in all, a wonderful place to stay and I would love to stay a The Marshall House again!

Beautiful and Charming Place!

Posted Mar 18, 2015
Location: Near all activities in historical district.
We had a great experience at the Marshall House. There was lots of old world charm but with modern amenities. The breakfast and happy hour were both great and the staff was very helpful. It seems that some of the customers at the hotel have remained there. If you are looking for a ghostly experience, you will probably get your wish. This was my first experience with unexplained things happening.

Took a guided trolly tour, and they picked us in front of hotel. Saved some money too. Great bar and wonderful breakfast. The free wine party was great both days.

Puts you in the Savannah mood and history

Amazing hotel with a great and helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again in a heartbeat. Close to everything, great walking distance to the major attractions in the Downtown Historic District! The oldest hotel in Savannah and still has a lot of great original details, puts in the Savannah state of mind! Rooms are very comfortable as well!!!

Excellent experience

Posted Feb 3, 2015
Pros: It's history and location.
Cons: There is only one minor thing I can think of that would be helpful. Place a small non slide rug under the window to get to the balcony.
Location: Location was perfect, easy walk to whatever we wanted to do.
From the moment we pulled up to the curb we were greeted with smiles. The front desk clerks were extremely knowledgeable about the city and what we should experience. Jasmine, Carlton, Jerry and others were wonderful, we felt like royalty, they took care of everything. The rooms were beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. I would have expected to pay twice as much as we did. It was so worth it to stay right downtown. I've been to Savannah twice before and stayed out of town and did not like driving in and trying to find a parking space every time we wanted to walk around. I would highly recommend the Marshall House to everyone! It was a wonderful experience, Thank you Marshall House for a wonderful yet inexpensive vacation. Holly Bender
