Older hotel with charm

Posted Oct 26, 2014
Had a great time being in downtown Savannah. Many restaurants and activities within walking distance. Room was smaller than anticipated and not much storage in bathroom. Staff was friendly and provided great service.

Perfect weekend getaway.

Pros: The hotel staff was the absolute best part of my stay. The room was nice and clean, but it's the staff that will keep me coming back.
Location: You can walk to anything you want to do in the historic district or River St. I never needed my car.
I needed to get out of town for a few days and The Marshall House was the perfect getaway. The special touches like the wine and cheese in the lobby and the bottled water in your room help make this a great hotel.

A Memorable Stay in Savannah

Posted Oct 18, 2014
Pros: I found the hotel fascinating. Being surrounded by so much history blew my mind. The hotel staff was most cordial and extremely helpful.
Cons: Possibly if the water pressure in the bathrooms could be improved. And another suitcase stand. There is very little area to put anything down.
Location: We were close to city market, the Owen Thomas mansion, within walking distance Also, we were pretty close to the river walk.
I had a wonderful and memorable experience in Savannah. The city, the people and the history of this marvelous place is fascinating. The local people could not have been nicer and were extremely informative. We took the trolley tour, which was so interesting, and we did the river walk and had lunch there. We visited city market, St. John the Baptist Church and toured the Owen Thomas mansion. Talking a walk through history was wonderful. I shall remember the lovey Savannah forever

Marshall House

Posted Oct 14, 2014
Pros: Staff, location
Had some issues with the first room due to the smoke alarm however they were very accommodating and had us taken care of very quickly. Staff was excellent and very helpful. Good location in the middle of the city with short walk to the river and most attractions. Would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is old, but, beautiful.

Posted Oct 9, 2014
Pros: The staff and its' location.
Location: You can pretty much walk anywhere in the historic area.
The staff is friendly , and, accommodating . The bathrooms are understandably not as modern as some. The shower tiles could use re-caulking. They look a little dingy. Because it is an old hotel... the wood floors creak.

Well established older Hotel with an outstanding breakfast, bar and dinning room. The room was a bit small but expected being as old a Hotel as it is. Highly recommend.....

Pros: Staff and location
Marshall House hotel has a great location within easy walking distance for all the sights of the Historical district. All the staff were very helpful especially Stephanie who recommended some great restuarants. Rooms very comfortable and well furnished to match the hotels period.Buffet breakfast more than adequate, and the wine and cheese served free early evening is a lovely touch which encouraged the guests to share their experiences of Savannah.Would definitely stay here again.

“Disappointed”

Posted Oct 3, 2014
Cons: Staff friendliness.
Location: Location is great. Easy access to everything
Is it beautiful? Sure. Is it comfortable? It's OK. Was I made to feel special for choosing their hotel over the hundreds of others in the area? No. Apparently I did not pay the "smile surplus" fee because every employee from the desk to the housekeepers to the restaurant workers were non-friendly. They barely made eye contact with the guests and I got the feeling every time I needed to interact with them as if I was a bother. I realize that in booking an old hotel I am giving up certain comforts of more modern hotels. But I was not prepared for the small size of the rooms and the lack of space to walk around the bed. I also did not like the fact that there was only ONE elevator for so many guests. Wait time for the elevator could be lengthy and we opted for the stairs more than once, which wasn't that bad since we were on the 4th floor.
