“Excellent deal, recommendable to everybody”

While the best asset of this Inn is certainly the combination price/convenience, I would not overlook other pluses. The service was extremely courteous and efficient. I had a problem with my shower and assistance came in and fix it almost instantly. Also, don’t let be deceived by the Inn’s appearance and the surrounding neighborhood. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and equipped with almost everything you need, in-room safe excepted. The area is safe and you can walk everywhere. The price is unbeatable and the motel is indeed at walking distance from the historical district and entertaining areas (River Street and City Market in particular). I’d stress that, most of the time, when they say walking distance they mean even a 20 minutes walk or more. Here it is literally at most 10 minutes. Only possible drawback is the small parking lot, because at the end it’s a small motel. However, it is rarely totally occupied.

“Classic style for a great price”

The Thunderbird inn is a classic early 1960's motel. It has only 42 rooms, and lobby/breakfast area. The rooms have been refurbished and are very modern,..not huge, in fact the bathrooms are a bit small, but thats the way they should be, verses trying to alter they floorplan for modern so-called needs. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the environs and anything you might want to do. 1950/60s early Rock and roll plays on the speakers outside in the hall, which really adds a nice, simple touch. The Hotel in only a block from the Savannah vistors museum and 3 from the train museum. Its located on Oglethorpe which is sort of in the middle of the historic area, but it is maybe 6 block off to the north, but very easily walked. There is a greyhound bus station across the street, but its a mix of students and "regular" bus folk. The price is very reasonable, and they are very pet friendly, with a little grassy area for fido just outside the lobby. The large glowing neon sign is a warm beacon as you walk/drive back to you hotel and reminds you of a simpler time is not gone for good.

“Great Place to Stay”

Wonderful hotel. The staff were helpful and very nice. It is located within a few blocks of shops, museums, and great food/bars. I would recommend this to anyone visiting Savannah.

“Nice”

First night, they had a RC Cola iced and a Moon Pie waiting in my room. I thought that was a hoot. Free WiFi and parking. Not a bad little motel.

“Good experience”

Given the price of most hotels anywhere near downtown Savannah, this was a good bargain. The staff was very friendly, and the rooms clean and quiet. It's more of a motel than a hotel, but it's within walking distance to the historic district. I had to walk back at night from downtown and never felt uncomfortable.

“Would look for something better next time”

The hotel was a bit run down and old but ok.There was 42 rooms and 37 parking areas so parking was the luck of the draw.Over flow parking was a block away with little lighting.

“Savannah Fun”

Thunderbird Inn is a great, clean, friendly and reasonably priced motel. The staff was always friendly and kind. The doughnuts and coffee in the morning were great. It is a funky, classic art-deco type motel but has all the basics I needed to enjoy my stay in Savannah. They play oldies type music all day on outside speakers that I found quite fun. I had no complaints. I am and was very conscious of my surroundings as I walked to and from the historic district of Savannah and was a little cautious of the bus station across the street; but all was fine. If I return to Savannah, I will stay again at the Thunderbird Inn.

“Thunderbird Rocks!”

Trendy little hotel just inside downtown savannah. We stayed here for a Widespread Panic concert and had a blast. The hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay awesome. Thanks again tbird staff, especially the maintenance man and maids! See y'all soon!
