“Quiet, out of the way location”

Fire Mountain is a retreat from the rest of the world. If you are looking for a place away from everything then look no further - no TV, no radio, no clock, etc. It is a beautiful setting with great views but it is about 10 miles from civilization. The entrance leading to the resort is a mile long single lane road straight up the mountain on a very rough, gravel road. Not sure what happens if you meet anyone. In the Inn you are served breakfast which is very good and the staff is very friendly. If you like action, this is not your best bet. If you are a hiking and nature lover, then you will enjoy it.

Area recommendations

Highlands is about 10 miles away and has great restaurants and shops. The windy, curvy roads are wonderful and the Blue Ridge Parkway is not far away if you enjoy a great road trip. There are water falls, white water rafting and hiking trails in the vicinity. Fall is a wonderful time to see the beautiful leaves.

When to go

Fall - mid to late October is wonderful for the cool weather and the beautiful leaves. The early summer is great for the beautiful flowers.

Dining

Fabulous restaurants in Highlands which is about 10 miles away. Have to be careful driving back to the resort in the dark as the roads are very windy and the turn in to the inn is very elusive.
