Good all round hotel, great value, great staff.Posted Jun 18, 2015
Pros: Felt like a family run hotel. All staff very friendly and helpful.
Cons: Advise asking for a riverside view room
Location: Great town centre location. Peebles has many small independent shops. River and green by the hotel.
This was a stop-over hotel both Thursday and the following Monday so we had experience of the hotel and staff on two occasions. On Thursday night the room was very hot and I left feedback accordingly. We returned on Monday night and were given a riverside view which I would like to think was as a result of the staff listening to our feedback. The riverside room was great, as was the staff, the food, the cleanliness of the room and hotel on both occasions. I liked the idea of the small courtyard seating as well as being able to sit at the front of the hotel which was in the centre of the wonderful town of Peebles. Our only regret that we used this as a stop-over hotel as we would have enjoyed a longer stay. A really fantastic value for money hotel with a 'family feel'. The staff seemed genuinely happy to help and welcome you in any way they could.

Excellent HotelPosted May 16, 2015
Pros: Friendly professional staff throughout hotel, excellent cocktail bar, lovely Georgian Restaurant with great in-expensive food and varied menu.
Cons: Back ground music in the dining room.
Location: Hotel in town centre, bars and restaurants close by, River Tweed 2 minutes walk away, swimming pool and golf course close by.
1st class privately owned hotel in the centre of the Border Town of Peebles.

Fantastic hotel and locationPosted Apr 18, 2015 on Hotels
Visited Peebles for a family reunion and the Tontine was a perfect location for me. As a single traveller I felt safe and welcome at the hotel. Breakfast was perfect although did not have the full breakfast. I would stay here again.

I booked the Tontine Hotel because it was recommended be friends. Had a great stay. Very homely with helpful staff. Centre of town so very close to shops, buses and pubs. Would definitely stay again.

Fantastic HotelPosted Oct 28, 2014 on Hotels
This is our third stay at the Tontine, as my husband fly fishes on the Tweed. It is a very classic and professionally run hotel, with very comfortable rooms. The atmosphere is friendly and the food is delicious...just what you need after a day on the river! The location is great, literally on the high street but you cannot hear traffic noise in the rooms, which is very welcome! Dogs are welcome too, which is what attracted me in the first place...unusual for such a well presented hotel, so cannot thank them enough!

Value for moneyPosted Sep 8, 2014 on Hotels
Having completed my due diligence on reviews and review of costs for hotels in the area, the Tontine Hotel stood out. Room needed a little updating, windows opening wider as there is no air con, but for value for money was ideal.

Great StaffPosted Aug 27, 2014
Pros: The Staff , the room, and the food.
Cons: Bit of money spent on refreshing our bathroom, but it was a good size.
Location: Great position right in the middle of town, and near the river.
The room was a good size with a lovely view over the river/park. With a small amount spent on tarting up the bathroom, it would have got 5 stars from us. Decided to eat in the hotel. Great decision. Good food. Great service. Nice atmosphere. Also a good choice at breakfast. I guess the hotel is used for coach tours, but no bad thing, and gave it a better atmosphere.
