“Glen Mhor and Eden Court - a Perfect Partnership”
This was my first time in Inverness and the choice of hotel was fortuitous. Just across the river from it lies the Eden Court Theatre where so much is going on in an extensive programme of theatre, dance, cinema and lots more, all in a beautiful setting overlooking the river.
The hotel is fabulously located and it's worth paying that bit extra for the view and proximity to town and riverside. Pleasant walking along the river starts on the hotel's doorstep and continues upstream through some lovely wooded green public space connected to the opposite bank via a series of footbridges and the area outside and opposite the hotel is discretely lit up at night along with the castle just down from the hotel.
The staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent in a comfortable, light, airy room with a good selection of fare from which to choose. The Glen Mhor provided a brilliant start to our holiday in the Highlands and I wouldn't hesitate to return. Our room, overlooking the river, was clean and very spacious, though the colour scheme was rather muted and neutral.
The bar is cosy and there's a small, but very comfortable lounge overlooking the river where it's a pleasure to sit and read.
The wall lights in the dining room look suspiciously like off-cuts from copper stills. Could they be from the now long gone Glen Mhor distillery that used to exist as one of three that used to operate in the city?
