Nice new rooms, ok hotel and staff

Posted Jun 28, 2014
Pros: The new rooms in the extension are of a high standard
Cons: Customer service is poor. We didn't feel we got value for money as this let the whole hotel down.
Location: It is a fair walk out of Inverness city but the surroundings are nice in the suburbs.
We stayed in this hotel on our wedding night so my sister had pre-phoned to make them aware and we had dropped our bag off before the wedding. We arrived after midnight clearly dressed as a bride and groom but our bag hadn't been taken to the room or any of the promised celebration items were in there. The reception staff and porter weren't the cheeriest and we had to carry our own bag to the room! We didn't feel very welcome or special at all - why agree to sort things prior to our arrival and not bother. We didn't fancy challenging them that evening. The two bottles of water they brought to the room appeared as £7.60 the next day on check out. Customer service was pretty poor and arguing with a new member of the reception staff just wasn't worth it for an apology. The room was nice, a very good standard as it was in the newly extended part of the hotel. The breakfast and breakfast room was tired, hot and worn out. The hotel overall is a good standard but sadly our experience of the customer service and smaller touches was rubbish.

Comfortable Room, But Slow Staff Service

Posted Jun 15, 2014
Pros: Very spacious and comfortable room, breakfast buffet was excellent.
Cons: Dinner service was slow, and food was rather bland. It also took two phone calls 30 minutes apart to get staff to respond on a housekeeping matter.
Stayed one night in a deluxe room and had both dinner and breakfast.

Okay if cheap - comfortable but disappointing

Posted Apr 30, 2014
The bed was very comfortable, the room quite pleasant and the blackout curtains kept it nice and dark, so I slept well. The lounges were traditional and well presented. However everything else about the hotel let it down. The room furniture and bathroom were dated and worn out. There was lots of renovation work going on in the corridor I was in. One member of staff decided to vacuum outside my room at 2am. The breakfast was a total let down, with watery porridge, dried out scrambled eggs and few vegetarian options. I didn't bother the second day. The staff repeatedly argued amongst themselves about why the till was ten pounds short whilst I sat in the lounge to use the Wi-Fi (the charges for using it in the room were extortionate). The pool and spa were really grotty (King's Club? Even the peasants would find it revolting). The pool ranges from about 50cm deep to a little over a metre, and its no longer than a few strokes across anyway. The changing rooms and pool/spa area were totally run down and grimy. There was a loud whining noise in the area of the sauna, stream room and Jacuzzi, which was a shame as the latter was nice and hot. The gym was very small and sadly had only one barbell (fixed at 40kg) and one dumbbell, though sufficient for a one off visit. I could see why most of the patrons of the club were long past retirement, as this would fall below the expectations of most gym members. Even at £60/night it was disappointing. And no response to my feedback :(

Absolutely excellent

Pros: Immaculate bedroom and great food. Evening meal and breakfast were both first rate.
Cons: Nothing much
Location: Great location for visiting Loch Ness.
Stayed in a deluxe family room in the new accommodation wing. It was fantastic, loads of space, separate sleeping area with bunk beds for the kids. Brilliant bathroom as well.

Lovely hotel

Posted Apr 12, 2014
Pros: Everything was good
Cons: The leisure facility's could do with an update as looking a little tired. Having said that everything was working fine.
Location: The location was good. Nice quiet area and a 15 min walk to town centre. Nice play area across from hotel for children.
Wanted a hotel with a family room and a pool and we were so pleased that we found this one! Our room was in the new wing and was perfect, lovely big super king size bed and a separate room with bunk beds for the children and their own tv. The pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi were fab. Great breakfast and friendly welcoming staff.

Highland Fling

Pros: The staff, it's location. The fact that each guest is treated as an individual.
Cons: Hotel still needs to look at providing free Wi-Fi in the rooms rather than limiting to the reception area.
Location: Moray coastline, Loch Ness, Black Isle.
Trip back to the capital of the Highlands for a short break. As good as ever. No Nessie sighting but plenty of other great scenery to view. Food options in the town always good. Hotel ideal and caters for all.

Luxurious hotel close to the centre of Inverness

Posted Mar 2, 2014
Pros: Good quality, well located, hotel accommodation, good food / beverages and friendly staff
Cons: The timeliness and thoroughness of the housekeeping service.
Location: Close to Inverness city centre and to a wonderful array of tourist facilities and magnificent countryside
Primarily positive - friendly and knowledgeable staff, good quality food / drink, comfortable surroundings both in room and in public areas. On the more negative side, we experienced a few problems on the housekeeping front, which, in fairness to hotel management, were acted upon swiftly. It was also a little on the expensive side in terms of food and drink but this is to be accepted in a four star establishment
