“Good experience”

This is a budget hotel. I was there for a photo shoot and really only needed a place to sleep. The hotel is dated, but I understand a renovation is eminent. The important things were covered excellently. The room was very clean and the staff was good. The Continental Breakfast room was far more than I expected and was staffed well (reloading coffee pots, etc) The wifi was faster than expected. In short, this hotel even as-is is a positive for the Econlodge franchise.

“Disappointed in Ft. Payne.”

I requested 2 queen beds and did not notice the confirmation had 1 double bed. The staff had to search for a room that would sleep 2 people and came up with 1 full size bed. The manager talked in a grouchy, accented monotone. He ordered children (abt. 8 and 10), who seemed capable of serving themselves, to leave the dining area and return with their parents. They cooperated quickly but seemed puzzled, insulted and irritated. The reception and dining area had an pleasant odor, which had to be treated with an air purifier. The source may have been the mini sausage biscuits which, when microwaved, released a teaspoon of flowing grease into the paper plate.

“Never Again!!”

I have stayed at this Motel once a year for the past 4 years. It's the only Motel in town that allows pets. Due to traveling with my dogs I never expected the best room. This year we left the dogs at home and expected our expierence to be better. BIG mistake! The showers in this Motel are the worst ever, They've had an overlay to give I guess a new appearence, however there is a gap between the bottom of the tub and the overlay. This may some like nothing however there is a spongeness to the bottom and while showering you feel like your gonna fall. I had to lean against the wall in order to feel secure. Also they have got to have the loudest A/C/heating system ever. There's a Motel about 30 miles away that I'll be staying at during my next visit to Fort Payne.
