Pros: Nice people. Nice furnishings. Quiet. Breakfast really good.
Cons: Air conditioner had a hard time keeping up and keeping it cool - BUT, having said that, it was a really really hot day.
Location: Cute down. James River Batteau festival very nice.
Very nice place. Second visit for us. Delightful people.

Very warm and inviting B&B

Pros: Everything
There were many area's to retreat to as a couple without bumping into other guests. Choose a walk in the vineyard, a nice seat toward the woods in the Adirondack chairs, an intimate setting in the pagoda or walking areas among the many gardens, or stay on the back or front porch - both with adequate, intimate seating. Its a splendid old house that is beckoning you to come into it's doors. Ring the bell and enter into a neat old house with each room making it's own perfect statement. My wife treated me to a wonderful massage - and herself too of course. The masseuse was fantastic and reasonable. She does a lot of accu-pressure, and that really sets her apart. For the hike back to Charlottesville, the road is winds a lot and we had an evening in the little town of Scottsville. If you blink, you missed it - but get a picture of the police department if you decide to walk through. Reminds me of Mayberry in a way. Nancy (the innkeeper and owner) has a son that owns a nice restaurant in town that's a Farm to Table style with local farmers providing excellent, fresh ingredients. Definitely a place we will return to!!!!

My husband and I had an incredible stay in this B&B for a quick getaway after our wedding. It was our first time in a B&B, and we loved it. We arrived later than normal on a Sunday, but Nancy had everything ready for us, including a welcome sign congratulating us at the front door. We were the only guests for the two nights there, so no complaints about noise or other visitors. Our room was exceptionally clean and hospitable and made for one of the most relaxing times we've had away. The breakfast each morning was incredible - Nancy's daughter is a great cook! Nancy can tell you all the local places to check out, give you great tips and even some free wine tasting cards to take on your adventures. We loved our little getaway and would recommend it highly to anyone looking for a quiet retreat near Charlottesville (note, it's an easy 25 min drive to downtown).

Cheerful Inn, perfect for a retreat

Pros: I liked the decor, the friendly atmosphere, the location. It has a very sweet eatery just as you get in the inn's driveway so that's very convenient.
Location: The James River and Scottsville is a few minutes away. The micro brewery there made a very nice beer. Monticello, wineries, orchards are near by.
We stayed only for one night and wished we could have stayed longer. As soon as you get on the property, you leave behind your daily concerns. You step in this cheerfully decorated inn where the staff is friendly, helpful and not intrusive. I sat on the porch and read, took walks on the property and looked around the house. The owner has decorated the inn with wonderful details. And yet it is not cluttered. There plenty of books around the house you can pick up and read. The breakfast fresh and delicious. The frittata was made with local free range eggs and the portion was very generous.
