Brilliant autumn break near Durham

Posted Oct 6, 2014
Pros: Friendly service and sumptuous room. Lovely spa.
Cons: The food in the Grill was slightly under seasoned - probably for health reason?
Location: The Durham coastal path is right outside the hotel gate.
We stayed one night recently having dropped an offspring off at Durham. As we came from a long way, we have stayed at other hotels in or near Durham before with very average service. Having driven past Seaham Hall we thought we would give it a splash. It certainly lived up to our expectation (and the price)! The staff were friendly and more than helpful. The hotel room was sumptuous and clean. The spa has hot tubs and Jacuzzi galore both indoor and outdoor. The food at the Byron Grill was very good - the most tender steak we have had for a long time. Although it was not cheap, for the same quality of food and services you would pay a lot more in London or in the Southeast. The overall impression is that the staff are there to please and we would definitely look forward to returning.

First class hotel

Posted Sep 25, 2014
Pros: Large bedroom - large bathroom too.
Cons: Asian food restauarant was absolutely first class so would love to see a more expanded menu.
Great venue, restful, a large room kitted out very well and wonderful food and service. Very impressed and will return. Thought the food at the spa restaurant (Asian) was particularly good.
