Nice hotel close to Seattle Center

Posted Apr 25, 2015
Pros: Location, decor, cupcake reception, friendly front desk staff.
Cons: Advertised as area shuttle but it only goes to a few area attractions at designated times during the day or at least that is what the concierge said.
Location: Seattle Center, Space Needle, Key Arena, waterfront/Pikes Market, shopping
Queen Anne district, great location, easy walk to Seattle Center, waterfront. Shuttle to some area attractions. Free parking. Nice reception in the afternoon. Bikes and umbrellas available.

Great Hotel but Noisy Neighbors/Construction Chaos

Posted Apr 21, 2015
Pros: Decor is great. Complimentary bikes to ride. In-house restaurant. Below ground parking. Location is awesome.
Cons: Noise barriers or options to relocate to another room or maybe complimentary earplugs. TV channels are SUPER slow - guide would be helpful.
Location: Citizen Cafe is a MUST for breakfast. Key arena is close and there are great places to eat nearby!
We really love the vibe of this hotel. Fun colors, unique decor, modern and a GREAT location near the waterfront and downtown area. HOWEVER, I am pretty sure we had elephants staying in the room above us - loud, clunky footsteps, and constant banging early in the morning. Plus we had a lower floor that offered a nice view of the concrete retaining wall and a first class wake-up call to the nearby construction site. The restaurant is great - we made it in time for a late bite. The parking garage is secure which is a bonus. And in walking distance from a fantastic breakfast cafe! We stay in a hotel to relax and we weren't really able to do that with the constant noise happening above and around us - which is disappointing especially since we forked out $200 for one night.

Just as great the second time around

Posted Apr 19, 2015
Pros: Amenities, staff, location, free shuttle service, free parking, free coffee/cupcakes, quiet, clean.
Cons: Wifi service was extremely slow - it took so long to load websites for maps and restaurants.
Location: Prime location - we enjoyed walking up the Queen Anne hill to ice cream shops, parks, restaurants and Trader Joes, and Seattle Center, too.
The first time we visited to Seattle, we took a chance on this highly rated hotel with its prime location and charm oozing out of the pictures posted by other guests. It turned out to be one of our top hotel experiences, and a place we talked about repeatedly when recalling what we loved about Seattle. So of course when we made plans to visit Seattle again, there was no other place we wanted to stay than The Maxwell. This hotel again did not disappoint - the staff are all so welcoming and accommodating, the rooms are kept so clean, the amenities offered in your room as part of your stay (ie no extra charges) are plentiful and beat most competitors (bottled waters, keurig coffee/tea, popcorn, free house slippers, dispensers with shampoo, conditioner, body soap, hand soap, lotion), the free shuttle service is wonderful, the afternoon cupcakes and coffee are delicious, the free parking garage is gate controlled and secure, even the umbrella in the closet is a thoughtful touch. The Maxwell folks truly put a lot of thought into what would make their guests comfortable. The only negative throughout the whole experience was their wifi (we were on the 2nd floor) was quite slow, and it was faster to turn my phone into a hotspot as many sites took forever to load otherwise.
