A very peaceful place to stay...

Posted Dec 14, 2014
Pros: As noted above
Cons: Nothing comes to mind... Overall, this is a very nice hotel that we will certainly return to...
Location: Very centrally located and awesome views of the local red rocks from the open court yard
Upon check-in, we had a different type room than what we had booked... The staff immediately remedied this with the perfect room for us... During our stay, the staff were very pleasant and always there to answer questions, offer suggestions, hold doors open, etc... Service one does not usually see these days... Have to say though - the food was only average... The highly rated chicken dinner wasn't very good at all... Rice well undercooked with chicken well overcooked... Fish was good and lamb as well...

Interesting resort in good location

Posted Dec 5, 2014
First, you should know that it is a very dog friendly hotel. Large dogs everywhere. Second, there is a big difference between the interior facing rooms (those with a view of the pool and red rocks) and those exterior facing (view of scrubbing grass and a wall). Unfortunately, we were in the later. Very nice infinity pool, whirlpool, and courtyard area. Hotel staff very professional and accommodating.

A modern oasis for lost city slickers.

Thanks expedia for putti g this one at the top of your list. I went with my family looking for a quick hop from where we are staying in phoenix. The Amara had everything we needed. Great heated pool and sauna overlooking the creek with the beauy of Sedona Red Rock towering beyond the canyon. Service exceptional Staff informed and always willing to guide you. They are great with kids despite not looking like a kid friendly place. Nobody ever gave us that "You have kids" snarl. And the 5pm happy wine hour was great. Restaurant awesome as well. My only beef was broken door knob that took a little to open. I just assumed this was Amara's attempt at keeping us in a place we were happy in.

Great short stay over Thanksgiving holiday. Location just steps off of Main Street of old town Sedona is ideal, yet very private. Quiet, spacious, immaculate room. Pool was beautiful with wonderful pool-side bar service. Staff was outstanding. Cannot recommend this resort highly enough!

Great hotel with beautiful views and easy access

Posted Dec 1, 2014
Pros: Convenience, atmosphere
Cons: Covered walkways
Location: Sedona
Although this may not look like a child friendly room from the outside, our boys came running out as we parked the car screaming "This place is amazing". The setting is spectacular with beautiful views. The facilities are great with a nice pool and garden, good restaurant and very nice rooms. The rooms are little on the small side (for our family) and the layout of the property is a little bit complicated with lots of in and outs but overall it was a great place to spend the night and really left us wanted to come back to Sedona for more.

3rd room was a charm

Posted Nov 30, 2014
Location:
Checked into a room that smelled strongly of cleaning fluid. Tried to air it out but it still smelled hours later. So we requested another room. They found one quickly and helped us move the bags. However in the second room the heating system did not work correctly, cycling between too hot and too cold. They sent an engineer who suggested we change rooms again. By midnight we had a room that did not smell and had a comfortable temperature. The hotel is down a steep hill but they provide a shuttle service if you don't want to walk it. Note that they add a service fee to the published rate which covers valet parking fee and the shuttle service. I might consider staying again since overall location is convenient, staff were generally friendly, ambience was nice and room was OK once we finally found the OK room, but for the money it was a bit of a hassle and not fantastic. They helped us with bags each time and were very courteous, and the last room of the three was on the end so it had a large patio and a view including pool, tree, rocks and river (mostly tree).

Probably the best place to stay for a short (or long) trip to Sedona. Close to everything. Beautiful resort, nice amenities and and friendly, helpful staff.

Disappointing, average place for the upscale price

Posted Nov 24, 2014
Pros: The view was great. The location was convenient.
Cons: More upscale rooms. Bar available after 10:00 pm.
Location: Town is close after a vigorous uphill stroll - restaurants and shops.
The view was great and the staff friendly, but we had to order a bottle of wine from room service and take it out to the fire - the bar closed at 10! For the price, I expected more style and sophistication, or at least more eclectic ambience with stellar service.
