Everything I could imagine wanting or needing

Posted Jun 23, 2015
On a long road trip of the Southwest with my daughter. Plenty of small towns and shabby hotels along the way. Sedona was one of 3 places we treated ourselves. The Amara was far and above the best stay we had. So glad we chose the Amara. The Kimpton name helped us decide. Every step of the way, every opportunity the hotel had, they made us feel valued and important. Staff is smart, personable and caring. What a combo. From check-in, to restaurant, to room service to valet to concierge, everyone was professional, attentive and a pleasure to deal with. Room was fantastic. We requested a patio room not on the pool, and were rewarded with a quiet and secluded room that was still convenient. Beds fantastic, room style/decoration fantastic. We will recommend the Amara and hands down stay here anytime we're in Sedona.

Impressive. Wonderful experience!

From the quick and courteous checking to the valets, to the nightly music on the restaurant patio with mountain views, to the dedicated and tranquil spa located right on the hotel premises, this is the hotel to give you serenity while still in the middle of Uptown Sedona.

Second stay here and we wanted to love it...

Posted Jun 18, 2015
Pros: The location is great. You can walk to uptown Sedona shops and restaurants. It is also a short distance to drive to hiking trails or downtown Sedona
The first time my husband and I stayed at the Amara we didn't get a chance to use most of the hotel amenities and there have been some updates to those since. This time we decided to try and take advantage of what we could. The work-out facilities are small but clean and practical equipment. The downside was that the water cooler provided was empty for 2 days until my husband asked the front desk to fill it. After a look of total confusion from the lady at the desk, it was filled no more than 10 minutes later. We were slightly disappointed in the housekeeping, being that we stayed for 3 nights and our room was only cleaned once. The restaurant has good food but except for one server and bus-boy, the service leaves something to be desired. The 3 times we ate there, the hostess was not at the stand so we had to wait for her. When she came to seat us there was no smile or friendliness at all. I watched her with other guests as well and she treated them the same as us. We had the same male server 2 mornings and each time waited quite a while for our order to be taken. And our waters were empty most of the meal. Our last day, we only had our water filled once, even after asking and getting promises that he would return right away with water. I actually got up and filled my own glass from the water offered in the lobby. We were also not able to sleep in because you could hear al the footsteps (or aerobics) from the room above us beginning at 6 am each morning.

Its great hearing that this was your second time back with us but very disappointing as we left you very disappointed. It is all in the details and clearly we were not dialed in or ready to make this stay even better than the last. I appreciate the honest feedback and I am sorry we dropped the ball. This is not what we pride ourselves on and something that will be addressed immediately. I hope you will give us another opportunity in the future to show you the first time was not a fluke. Beautiful setting!

This hotel was wonderful from the moment we arrived to the time we departed. The staff was courteous, helpful, and friendly. We were graciously upgraded to a lovely room overlooking the courtyard and pool, which had magnificient views of the red rocks. Everything was perfect.

So excited you enjoyed the property, especially the morning coffee and tea in the lobby daily from 5:30am-9am. The night wine hour from 5p-6p is always a hit as well. Thank you for the kind words about the team. Patrick Gaskin General Manager

Hidden retreat

Posted Jun 11, 2015
Location: great location, short walk up the driveway to the main road thru town, lots of little shops and a few restaurants. Great little ice cream shop!
Great location right off the main street in Sedona. Very helpful and pleasant staff. We did not get to use the hotel facilities too much, as we did a lot of sightseeing and did not get back to the hotel until later in the evening. Did catch the free happy hour one night, nice extra. Overall a great experience, can't wait to go back to Sedona

Beautiful property with view of red rocks.

Pros: View. Right in town--walk to everything.
Cons: Dogs running through halls---should be separate section for them.
Infinity pool overlooks red rocks. Recently renovated.

What a beautiful location for a mini-vacation!

Posted Jun 5, 2015
Pros: I especially liked the patio outside our room where we could have a quiet glass of wine. I loved the fact that the hotel is pet friendly, too.
Cons: Our sink didn't drain well and the electrical outlet in the bathroom didn't work. I mentioned it to the staff.
Location: The concierge desk can give you a map to the Sedona Vortexes. Besides being great car trips and hikes, it was great to experience the vortexes.
My sister and I decided to take a mini-vacation to Sedona, which was a place on our bucket list. I don't think we could have chosen a more perfect location! The hotel is beautifully set on Oak Creek and the views are heart stopping. The staff was amazingly efficient and friendly. Smiles everywhere. Zach was our favorite valet, but the other guys were equally dazzling. Wade and Diane made having a drink on the patio a delight. Even though the spa was under renovation, we were able to get a massage in rooms set aside for them. Derick gave me the best massage of my life. We plan to return to this hotel and hopefully even the same room next year. Sedona is one of the loveliest places on this planet and offered a wonderful view of the full Strawberry moon, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn through my telescope. I was happy to share the night sky with several guests out by the pool.

Trish, Thank you for taking the time to share your amazing experience. Thank you for the special recognition for Wade, Zach, Diane, Derrick, and the rest of the incredible team. Sedona is a magical spot and I can see why it is a bucket list destination. Thank you for sharing the night sky and your knowledge with many of our guests. What makes this place so special besides the views and our staff; it truly is the amazing guests we are so lucky to have here. Until next time… Patrick Gaskin General Manager
