No more classy Amara

Hotel under new ownership. Remodeled from classy to tacky. Restaurant went from the best in Sedona to the worst.

Wonderful boutique hotel with a fantastic view.

Posted Sep 9, 2014
Pros: The pool The room The valet boys - friendly and helpful The small spa
Cons: Carpets in the public area need a good cleaning
Location: In the middle of West Sedona with only a couple of minutes uphill walk up the drive into town. Plenty of small shops, galleries and restaurants nearby
Sedona itself is nice but it's the surrounding red rock Butes and Mesas that make it so special. The Kimpton Amara is a comfortable and well designed boutique hotel that is sympathetic of its surroundings. We absolutely loved our three nights here and wish we had booked another night or two.

Nice hotel with fantastic views

Excellent location and amenities, unfortunately they feel the need to charge for everything. I don't understand why a hotel that charges that much already would still charge for wi-fi.

High Expectations..

Posted Sep 7, 2014
Pros: Food was quite good.
Heard about the Amara Resort and thought we would try it especially after the remodel and with it's refurbished restaurant. Free parking and greeted by cheerful parking attendant...good start. Check in was uneventful....after discovering that we had no view from our room I went to the front desk to inquire about our reservation but only was told "that's the room we booked". OK no inquiry as to how they may help...no suggestion of change even at a higher cost....NOTHING. A bit disappointing soured our entire stay.

Awesome resort

Scored a great deal through Expedia to stay here...awesome stay!!! The room was gorgeous, the view was amazing...can see Snoopy Rock! It was my birthday week and they left me a birthday card and chocolate strawberries. Everyone was so nice, the pool was great, so was the restaurant. Right in the middle of town so it was a perfect location. Will stay here again!

Had always wanted to stay at this property what a disappointment.. Upon check the staff was not welcoming we requested if we could upgrade our room and the answer was no even though he never looked if there was availability. Lounging by the pool was a little disheartening especially when you have such a beautiful scenery. We had to ask twice for pool towels, the pool attendant ignored us at least for an hour and half until I had to get up and ask him for service. the pool was extremely cold and they states it was heated which it was not.. I expect a hotel of this caliber to be all about customer service and making sure their guests are taken care of unfortunately I didn't feel that with any of there services..

Best hotel in Sedona with a great view

Posted Aug 3, 2014
Pros: Rooms, the pool, the view, the friendly staff.
Cons: The hotel is perfect as it is.
Location: jeep tour, visit slide rock state park
We stayed here 3 nights. This is a very nice hotel. The condition of the hotel is excellent. Rooms are clean, staff is very friendly. Free internet is a plus! The view from the pool area is wonderful. The salt water pool is very nice. The pool is only 4 feet deep. We would stay here again.
