Get more than what you pay for!Posted Sep 29, 2013
Terrific buffet breakfast. Wonderful staff. Good location. Secure parking- but tight and tricky to park. I would definately stay here again. Within easy walking distance to old city sights. In all, it surpassed our expectations for what we paid.

Funky hotel with characterPosted Sep 29, 2013
Pros: Above all, we liked the couple (owners) who ran the place. and we liked the lobby and breakfast room decor. The breakfast was generous and varied.
Cons: The renovations will be welcome; especially if they update the plumbing in the bathrooms.
Location: It's near the Art Museum; the antiques district; the Cathedral and the Abbey, both interesting churches; and the Mairie (the City Hall).
The new owners and staff are wonderfully helpful. For that reason alone, it would be a good hotel to return to. The lobby tells the "funky" story, with paraphernalia relating to Napoleon Bonaparte, including a tricorne hat, a small statue of Bonaparte, paintings, etc, etc. The rooms are typically small, the linens clean, but there is an "old" smell in the corridors and in the rooms, and you can sense the damp. The whole place needs some renovation, but then the price will augment as well. We felt very safe here and central. It is close to the Cathedral, the Mairie (city hall), within walking distance of the major Art Museum, the antiques district and the old city. When we changed plans and left early, they helped us find new hotel accommodations. Their underground parking is difficult to negotiate, and the owner was always willing to bring out the car for us. For a budget hotel, it's quite acceptable.

Great locationPosted Sep 27, 2013
You get more than what you paid for. Downside-wifi does not work in room and there is no lobby to sit and use Wifi. Perhaps it works in the restaurant. English speaking staff pleasant. I would recommend if watching your budget. Room is a fair size.

short walk to historical town centerPosted Dec 12, 2012 on Hotels.com
Convenient location, friendly staff, very good buffet breakfast. Room was quiet, spacious and clean, but in urgent need of renovation, particularly to improve lighting. Otherwise an overall positive stay for a competitive weekend rate.

Not the best experience...Posted Aug 8, 2012
Pros: Nice staff
Cons: Gross and needs to be renovated. Creaped me out the whole time I was there and it was hard to sleep
Location: Great location, next to Hotel de Vile and the restaurants. Really close to the major museums too
The staff was really nice and the hotel is in a great central area. However, the rooms are gross. The shower was broken and you had to hold the shower head because it wouldn't stick to the wall (the piece had fallen off). The bed was gross looking and I wore shoes in the floor the whole time. When the maid cleaned my room she forgot to replace the washcloth and the hand towel so I only had a bath towel (luckily I had only used one of the two I was given). Don't count on using their shampoo. There was also some weirdo religious ceremony going on which was extremely loud. The curtain is thin and also gross looking, and does not trap the light out. There is a metal security (I guess) window shade but that creaped me out too much to use. The wall paper is pealing and you can hear movement in the hallway really easily. Overall, it has a lot of potential in the area, but the whole place needs to be renovated and new furniture for all the rooms. Maybe thicken the walls a bit too. August might be a good time to work on it since all the stores in the town literally shut down. Don't bet on going to every restaurant you pick out... odds are half are closed.

Ok European hotel in a nice locationPosted May 29, 2012 on Hotels.com
The hotel was not "polished" by any means but it was clean, in a convenient location, and had all that I needed. The staff spoke English enough to have a basic check-in conversation wiithout any problems. I didn't have the breakfast so can't comment on that but overall I was satisfied for the hotel at the price that I paid.
Convenient, if a bit dankPosted May 19, 2012 on Hotels.com
Convenience is a strength, as the hotel is about a half mile from the train station, and within walking distance of Rouen's major attractions. It's definately not the newest of facilities, however, and smells more than a little musty. Breakfast was worth the price. The tiny little pillows might annoy picky travelers. Overall, we were OK with it.
