“Lovely Room, Perfect Location”

Wasn't sure when we I booked how the location was but it's perfect. Walking distance to everything, right on a cute square with market stalls. Staff was a bit abrupt, but generally speaking fine. Room was beautifully decorated. Wish I had more than two days to stay here.

“faded beauty...this hotel is not up to modern-day standards...used to be a four star but not anymore”

I stayed at this hotel with my father for 5 days in Seville. I booked this hotel because I was trying to find something close to the city center. The good news is that it's walking distance from just about everything. The thing about this hotel is that once upon a time...150 years ago...the hotel was really really really nice...the problem is that the hotel hasn't changed much during those 150 years. The rooms are decent, but they are not up to modern-day luxury hotel standards. The breakfast is pretty basic and I was not impressed at all, especially considering how it costs like 20 euros a person...here's a tip: save your money and DO NOT book breakfast with your room, it's a lot cheaper to go around the corner to one of the cafes by the hotel for breakfast. The hotel staff is friednly and helpful, however they are significantly understaffed so you don't get the full-quality service that one would expect from a luxury hotel. The anemities at the hotel are limited and I will not be staying at this hotel again next time I am in Seville because there are a lot more nicer hotels I could stay at for the same price

Area recommendations

I would definitely recommend seeing the Cathedral and the Alcazar and all the other big attractions/monuments nearby. However, do not waste your money going on the tour bus because you will not see much and it is not worth the price. We went on the boat tour of the city which was alright, but mainly they just played loud pop music and served alcohol....basically it turned out to be a booze cruise and they don't tell you what you are passing/seeing and the view is limited.

When to go

DO NOT GO IN THE SUMMER!!!! YOU WILL BE DYING FROM THE HEAT!!! We were there in the middle of june and it was 90-something degrees everyday so we were suffering. It is best to go in the winter or spring, but avoid going in June-September

Shopping

Most of the clothing boutiques are overpriced and sell bad-quality clothing which will fall apart after one or two wears. Don't spend your money on clothes or shoes in Spain because if it falls apart, you will not have anyone to complain to, and be stuck with your purchase

Dining

there is a great little resturant out of the way called "La Isla" ask the hotel people to tell you where to go because it's hard to find

“Ideal location, great staff”

Hotel is located right at Plaza Nueva, making it very handy to walk to many of the central old town attractions, including the Cathedral. The area is alive at night, with marching bands, great street cafes, etc. Staff was knowledgeable and accommodating. The room, while not plush by American standards, was one of the better European facilities that we have stayed in. Good breakfast buffet, which included hot items as well as the standard pastries, cheeses and meats.

Getting around

Walking from this location gives you plenty to see. If you have the time and the money, a horse-drawn carriage provides a good tour of the core city area, complete with palaces and other landmarks. Don't bother driving--parking is at a real premium.

Must see

While churches are plentiful throughout western Europe, don't miss the Seville Cathedral, which is the third-largest in Europe--incredible structure. Across from the Cathedral, we happened upon a Sunday morning street sale that apparently has gone on for more than a hundred years--stamps, coins, keys, posters, watches, antiques, etc. Very interesting

Nightlife

We found that particularly on Saturday night, the streets are filled. Surprising to see parades of marching bands, religious groups--some starting their activities after 10 pm. Of particular interest are the groups of young men parading one of their compatriats through the streets for good-hearted ridicule. The subject is dressed as a bunny, a convict, a flamenco dancer, etc., and his friends typically have made identical T-shirts that celebrate the occasion--along with a couple musical instruments to call attention to the event. Could this be the Spanish equivalent of a bachelor party? Very entertaining in any event.

“Great location”

This hotel overlooks the main square and is a short walk to most attractions. On our ten day trip to Spain Gibraltar and Morrocco this was probably the best stop.

“Sevilla's British Conection”

The Inglaterra Hotel on the Nueve Plaza is perfectly located for easy access to everything you wish to see in Sevilla. All within walking distance. Perfect stay! Great pub with affordable drinks and food.

Area recommendations

The most scenic areas of the city are around the Cathedral and the Plaza de España. Both should NOT be missed!

“Inglaterra a good choice.”

A really nice hotel. Its outside appearance is a little shabby, but inside it has been updated and maintained beautifully. The front desk was always helpful and friendly. Our room was on the 2nd floor, and sound proofing was the only complaint we had - otherwise the room was great. The wifi didn't work, but internet cafes abound, so no problem. The location on Plaza Nueva is central to everything, and the tram ends virtually at your doorstep. From the airport, you can take the EA bus to the tram, then the tram to the hotel - all for about 5 Euros. And Seville is spectacular. Hookup with Concepcion Delgado's walking tour right in Plaza Nueva any morning except Sunday/holiday.

Area recommendations

Plaza Nueva is central and convenient. Santa Cruz neighborhood is a little livelier and consequently more crowded.

“Reasonable Choice”

The hotel has a good location and is very attractive. We were only there on Saturday and Sunday, and there was a wedding reception on both days, which made it impossible to enjoy the bar. The beds were a little too hard for my choice, but overall, I enjoyed the stay. There is a taxi stand across from the hotel, so it makes it convenient to pick up a cab for exploring other areas of the city.
