“Value for money - recommend”

City Hotel centrally located in older quiter area of the city.The staff are very helpful and friendly.Staff speak good English no problems with communication.Lots of nice restaurants and shoe shops galore.10 minute walk to Nanjing Road. Great breakfasts. Would definitely stay there again

“A great bargain in Shanghai.”

The hotel was very clean and in a quiet area of Shanghai. The staff was very attentitive to our needs. Rooms were clean. The hotel seems a little dated but is well maintained. The up-charge to use the hotel/fitness area was a little steep so we did not use these facilites. We had teenagers with us and felt safe to let them explore the area at night.

“Solid hotel in great location for French Concession and Nanjing Rd shops”

This hotel seemed mainly geared up for business travellers, so what it lacked it atmosphere it made up for in facilities (e.g. concierge, swimming pool & gym, business centre with internet access, small shop, money exchange etc.). Its main selling points are that its clean, safe, easy for non-Chinese speakers, and its 5 mins walk from Nanjing Road (Shanghai's main shopping street) and 10-15 mins from the bars and restaurants of the french concession. The staff were incredibly helpful as well - I forgot to pack my anti-malaria tablets for the next part of our trip and they made several phone calls to help us find a clinic that stocked them.

“Pleasantly surprised”

I chose this hotel based on Expedia Tavellers reviews, which were good. Even still this hotel was much nicer than I expected for a very reasonable price. Excellent location, clean modern room. Would definitely recommend it.

“Shanghai Satisfied”

The City Hotel is a very nice facility and the staff I encountered were very nice and helpful. I had no problems communicating in English. The room and all of the common areas were clean and nicely appointed. Some of the information about location and distances to points of interest are off a bit. However, with a little walking, or a very short taxi ride, you can enjoy many wonderful sights and very nice people.

“Lovely Hotel”

Great Location, helpful and very nice staff, good deal, elegant lobby, fresh flowers in room and lobby, pleasant cafe with magazines and books and delicious pastries. Just be careful with the taxis they fetch! ( some are not official and may overcharge)
