Crowne Plaza ShanghaiPosted Mar 2, 2014 on Hotels.com
A really excellent quality hotel. Everything about the hotel was fantastic. Room was really good very comfy bed, good shower plenty of room. The restaurant was excellent, although beware that they do not allow you to charge the meal to your room and only accept Union Pay cards, but the meal is great quality and great value.

Both great and awkward for familiesPosted Oct 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
If you have kids, this hotel is in excellent walking distance of Century Park, Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, and Thumb Plaza shopping center. Inside the hotel itself we found the beds to be very comfortable and loved the delicious buffet breakfast. The pool is gorgeous and good temperature, with adjacent hot tub. However, an employee harassed us about swim caps the entire time, ignoring the fact that none of the Chinese guests in the pool area were wearing them. I don't have a problem wearing a swim cap in hotel pools, but they didn't have any to lend out and I had to BUY one. Additionally the changing room policy is that children over the age of 2 are not allowed in the opposite gender's changing room. There are no family changing rooms near the pool, and telling people that they can't take their ‘wrongly’ gendered young children into the changing room (including the toilets, which are not in a public area) is completely impractical, not to mention unsafe: heavy doors to get back out of the changing room, showers and saunas where drowning and burns could happen without parental supervision! The front desk manager apologized profusely for the employee-related incidents and set out to retrain her, while the changing room matter had to be brought to upper management.

Good for business, but no barPosted Mar 23, 2013 on Hotels.com
Room was very comfortable, but walls are paper thin. I cold hear my neighbors upstairs when the shower ran, or they opened the curtains. The lack of a bar on the ground floor meant nothing central. The staff were amazing for all requests. Internet access, like all of China, was about 1MB/s. I went to the Renaissance next door and logged on to the free wifi at their bar for a 3MB connection.Taxis are cheap in China and easy to get anywhere in. Gym with swimming pool had three treadmills, weights and free weights.

Beware: a reservation only opens the negotiationPosted Jul 16, 2012 on Hotels.com
Arriving jet-lagged after 20 hours of travel, the front desk clerk "offered" me a deal on internet access and breakfast. Total tally in USD was over 50USD/day. Can't help but feel I was taken by not being on guard about opportunistic economic climate in China, should have remembered but was taken by Western hotel brand assuming rate was non-negotiable. Also, air condition in summer heat of 104F unable to coop. Sweating inside the hotel as soon as put shirt on in the morning.

Good Hotel.Posted Jun 25, 2012
Pros: The hotel was clean and efficient.
Cons: Television in the room was fixed to the wall and could not be moved for a preferred viewing angle.
Location: It is close to the main roads to Pudong International Airport, thus easy to get to.
A well-run hotel with good customer service. A little expensive by China standards, but not ruinous. Arguably more suited to business travelers, as it is a few miles from the main touristy parts of the city -- but they can be reached by a roughly £5 taxi if needed.

Excellent value for moneyPosted Feb 13, 2012
Excellent top quality, relatively new hotel in a great area. It's not downtown Shanghai, but in the Pudong "new area" that features more modern and spacious (and quieter) surroundings compared to the middle of the city. Approximately 30 minutes or so taxi ride to downtown or to PuDong airport. Within 10 minutes walk of a nice center featuring several western and asian restaurants, fast food, bakeries, a shopping center, and more. As the hotel is not competing with those in the heart of the city, the price seemed very reasonable and the accommodations and size of the room were excellent.
