close to downtown

Posted Jan 27, 2014
Pros: The food was really good, and the main floor staff had good command of English
Cons: Wait staff in the restaurant didn't all understand English, and they could do a better job of service. Could use a more modern shower. Faster internet
First let me start by saying the Expedia description for the location is wrong, it is not close the Pudong airport, it is about 30 to 35 miles away, close to downtown. Not much to look at from the outside and older in decoration although clean. The room is a little small but serviceable, the bed is neither the best nor the worst in China. The shower feels closed in because the curtains around the tub are too close. The staff on the main floor all speak pretty good English as well as certain wait staff in the second floor restaurant. The food was outstanding, especially the mushroom soup, burger, and fish n chips.

This is a very comfortable hotel.

Pros: The location and the rooms
Location: Along Huamu road to the right of the hotel there is the Kerry Centre which has lots of restaurants, shops and a couple of bars.
This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel in Shanghai. It provides a good level of comfort and facilities at a much cheaper price than hotels closer to the centre of Shanghai. However, it's location above the Century Park metro means it's cheap and easy to get to all the attractions.

Terrible Food

Posted Jan 8, 2014
Pros: Excellent location
Cons: Price and quality of the food.
Location: Close location to the Convention centre and the Line 2 Century Park station downstairs.
I have stayed at this hotel several times over recent years. Its right on top of the subway station on line 2, and near the convention centre so its a fantastic location. This was our first visit since the Dorsett took it over. We were please with everything except the food. Breakfast for 1 was included in the rate , a typical Dorsett policy, and the rate for the second breakfast was 138RMB. Incredibly expensive for China. In Xian we stayed at another Dorsett and it was 58RMB for the same deal. So we went to breakfast the next day after arriving anyway. Honestly the food was terrible. It was a reduced menu on previous visits and it was stale and almost inedible. My wife and myself left 90% of our food on the plate as it was terribly stale. Being midweek it wasn't even a weekend issue. I advised reception I would not be paying for my wifes meal and they did not charge for it. For the rest of our trip we ate downstairs in another cafe. The food was fresh and was only 38RMB for the meal each. We will stay again as its a great location but we will avoid the restaurant.

Pros: Clean and tidy, staff helpful, right on top of metro.
Cons: Bread and butter could be off, so be careful if you make toast. Meals on 2nd floor are not too good and too expensive.
Location: Close too exhibition centre for shows, and free bus to venue. Easy to go by metro, nothing near hotel except massage parlours.

Great hotel for business travellers to SHIENCO

Posted Dec 9, 2013
Pros: Very quiet, well located hotel. Helpful staff, good food.
Cons: The menu could be improved upon with more dishes. Markings on the water taps showing 'hot' & 'cold' would be very helpful.
Location: Location is great. Right on top of the metro station. The century mart is just opposite. Nearby on Meihua road all the shops, restaurants, etc.
I booked this hotel thru expedia for 4 nights, got a great deal. The hotel is located quite close to the Shanghai International exhibition centre (in fact I walked to and fro most of the days). One has to take Line 2 on the metro and get out at Gate 4 of the Century Park station which leads straight to the hotel. There was a bit of confusion regarding my reservation but it was sorted out quickly. The room allotted to me was absolutely great. I simply loved the ambience, the service, etc. Pity I did not get to use their gym or other facilities. The bus service to SHIENCO is very handy. The Wi-fi connect is also great. All in all, a great place to stay.

Rooms OK, other facilities disapponting.

Rooms were reasonable comfy, but for a business hotel it had a lot of room for improvement. Business centre charged $1 US a sheet for printing / photocopying b/w. Breakfast in the restaurant was a zoo, No space, waited 30 mins for an omelette then gave up.

Staycation

Posted Dec 3, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had a very nice staycation at the hotel. King size bed was large enough for my wife and baby. Location was excellent right off the subway exit, and next to a wonderful park. Price was reasonable. Interiors of the room was well done. Breakfast is one of the better ones in Shanghai for the same hotel category.
