good experience overall

Posted Jul 3, 2014
Location: It's not far off from the two popular shopping malls in Lujiazui, location was great.
Was greeted by an impatient; to some extent rude check-in staff which ruined my experience somewhat, especially having got off a 12-hour flight, it's the last thing that you would expect from a reputable hotel. Other than that, the hotel room and facilities were wonderful.

Fantastic hotel with very good location and views.

Pros: Rooms decoration specialy in executive room was very nice.when i arrived to the room they put some fruits in the room which was delightful.
Cons: All resturants and bars used to close at 10 PM which was too early for a city that has night life.
Location: The location of hotel was fantastic in pudong area , just close by TV tower ,aquarium and a big mall with all brands in .
It is a fantastic hotel with very good facilities like pool , spa, bar and resturants. Finger foods in executive loung with very nice river view gives you a lovely relaxation after a hard business day.I had only one bad experience ,my room A/C didn,t work properly and after four times notice they came to my room and said that just turn off the A/C and will take care of that next day.But they never come to repair it and the room was cold during my stay.

Great hotel with a great location.

Pros: It was very nice overall, the lobby, rooms, business floors
Cons: the wifi should be included in the price . I have stayed at lesser hotels with wifi included. This is a must these days for a premium hotel
Location: Close to old part of Shanghai , close to the water, great views
This hotel was wonderful, modern, good food in the hotel and close to so many restaurants by the water within walking distance. Good access across the waterway to old part of Shanghai

Fantastic Hotel

Posted Mar 18, 2014
Pros: Everything
Cons: In room mirror to be located above the writing bureau so you can sit at a dressing table to get ready.
We stayed here as part of a business trip, this is a fantastic hotel, beautifully designed and presented. The staff were extremely helpful and could not do enough to help, nothing we asked for was too much trouble. The room itself was amazing with a fantastic view of the Bund. The room was very well equipped although we would have preferred a mirror and plug socket above the writing bureau. Bathrooom was gorgeous also! The bar on the 30th floor... wow amazing, the view was out of this world. Again the level of service was outstanding and the cocktails amazing. The location of this hotel is great, and it is easy to get to any part of the city, the hotel give you a small business card translated into chinese so you can hand this to a taxi driver to tell them where you want to go and also the name of the hotle for the return drive back. (What a great idea!!!!) We will now always stay in this hotel as part of our business trips to China. Thank you to all the staff at the Grand Kempinski you have got is 100% right!!!!

Everything you need!

Pros: location, gym
A hotel in a perfect location to explore Shanghai. It is only a five minute walk to the underground train network which allows you to explore all areas of this amazing city. The hotel is very close to Super Brand Mall and overlooks the river that divides the city. Rooms have everything you would expect of a quality hotel. The gym was well resourced and I ran looking out to Pearl Tower each day. Hotel staff were professional during all of our interactions.

Pros: Great location, fantastic views, comfortable rooms, helpful staff, good internet connection.
Cons: Important things are all fine - maybe little touches like fruit in the room, newspaper etc.
Location: Great location - see above.
Stayed here when it was Gran Melia hotel. Lovely room with great view of the river. Staff always polite - some don't speak english, but no problems. 10 minutes walk to Line 2 metro station and shopping mall with shops and restaurants.

Great location, service could be better

The hotel is very modern with lovely furniture, it's in a good part of the city too, being in the business district means you have good access to the tube and the surrounding area is very clean and smart. Not as good a view as from the Bund side as the hotel is on the same side as the pearl and other skyline buildings. The food and drinks were great and the spa was lovely, the only thing was that the service wasn't really there and similar to what you would get at a big impersonal chain hotel.

Brilliant hotel in a great location

Pros: Location, luxury feel. The staff, particularly the concierge, were helpful and knowledgeable.
Cons: Wifi was a little slow; please consider fitting Nespresso machines in the rooms, otherwise nothing.
Stayed at the Kempinski twice this week - the second time I decided to take the Executive upgrade and the experience was superb. Hotel is clean, chic, rooms are comfortable and modern, I very much enjoyed my breakfast on the Executive floor with a great view over Shanghai and the Bund.

The hotel is a great business hotel.

Pros: Staff. Lobby and Location.
Cons: Internet is slow and should be free.
Location: Everything you need is a 5 minute walk away
The rooms are nice and staff are super friendly and good service. Superb location and a grand lobby to meet up for business. Rooms have great view. The pool is not as nice as the Four Seasons but more restaurants. Highly recommended.
