Great stay for 3 weeks holiday & remote working!
It was a very nice stay at the Grand Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao. The whole facility looked new and decorated with good taste. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was big and clean, good air condition, very fast WIFI. Convenient and quiet location. During our stay, the hotel staff Lavender Huang was especially helpful with our checking and managed our room upgrade with patience, kindness, and professionalism. She was also stationed in the executive lounge most of the time during our stay, and made sure all the needs from our remote working days were met with great service. We like her a lot and are very thankful to her. :) Also thanks to all the hotel managers, who handled our requests with flexibility, and always think the best for the hotel guests. If you want a reasonably priced, English-speaking-guest-friendly hotel, with good service, comfortable facility, nice staff, this would be your choice.

Clean and spacious
It was amazing our room got the Japanese bear toys all over! They have some festival and randomly decorate the room. Feel so lucky! This is my usual hotel when comes back to Shanghai. Clean and spacious.

I liked the speciality toilet. Automatic flush. Low gpf. Warm seat. I also liked the minimalist toiletries. I didn’t like the WiFi going in an out. Buffet Breakfast options didn’t change for the entire time we were there.

It was a comfortable stay. Area was convenient for local eateries and the subway was less then a 10 min walk away. Service was friendly and efficient and I will stay here again for the comfortable bed and simple and thoughtful amenities in the room. The washing machine was really useful.

1. Took long time to check out. 2staff serve 3guests, should be ok but it seems 1staff very unfamiliar with her job scope n the Japanese guest didn't understand what she was talking about. 2. Housekeeping staff very friendly n helpful.

Enjoyed the breakfast buffet, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a little dated, and the japanese toilet seat did not fully work. In addition, our room came with a "balcony" that was not accessible, but the door to the balcony still rattled in the wind throughout the whole evening. Other than that, the hotel was great.

Overall good - nothing to complain about.
Overall it was okay nothing special. Its around 30 minutes drive from the center/touristic spots so if you are going for holidays I would not recommend this location. On the flip side if you are going for business in nearby location then it would work out perfectly. The hotel is almost an hour drive from PVG airport.

Nice big modern room, but not walkable to anything
Hotel is very nice, rooms very spacious, has a washer, but you will need to hang dry your clothes. There is a stove top, but no cookware, dishes, or utensils. Small mini fridge available for use. Buffet was not good at all, except for the coffee and danishes. You will need a taxi to get around, it is not walking distance to any tourist attractions. But the taxi is very cheap. Tip the taxi drivers, they are not very accustomed to receiving tips, some will graciously accept, others will give it back to you, we always force the money back into their hands. Shanghai night river cruise and the tower were amazing! A must do!

Non smoking rooms stink of smoke ! If you order taxi to go to airport, be prepared for a rip-off..my taxi charged me more than 20% for the same distance when I came from the same terminal .. 205 RMB while coming from airport, 245 while going to airport.

Room was clean and comfortable. Shower head, both over head and hand held sprayed very poorly. Overhead was wide and weak, thin spray even going outside tub. Hand held sprayer was a vertical spray and could not be properly aimed.

NICE BUT NOT LIKE IN THE PICTURES
The room has a washing machine, which can save you a ton of money during a trip. Hotel staff is nice and fast, overall, pretty good value. About 15-20 minute walk from Chabad. Not as nice as other hotels in the area, but nice enough.

I was absolutely disgusted by the attempt to scam
Booked hotel in Shanghai there on business. On arrival they played a scam wanting me to pay for discount card $75 on arrival at the front desk they said my room was not clean and I could pay for an upgrade to get a nicer room caution caution caution beware of the scams by local Chinese hotels !!!

Location is convenient. Lobby scent is too strong with "old woman perfume style" so please change according to Accor standard. Breakfast choices are not many. Room is spacious but internet connection is really bad!
