“A quality hotel”
Excellent facility with an excellent staff.
“Great hotel and location”
This is a very nice property. It is well situated with a great shopping area one block away. There is a Mc Donalds across the street and other affordable places to eat (Pizza Hut, KFC, etc.) as well as local Asian food. Don't be afraid by other people saying that walking to the hotel is not okay. It's only one block that you need to pay attention to your surroundings but it's okay. We enjoyed the location. The subway is about two blocks away and easy to get to. The Bund is walking distance as well as other attractions. Great location and hotel.
“Good service, excellent location, nice environment, like to go back again in the near future”
This is one of my favorite hotels. It is in the heart of Shanghai downtown. Next to Nanjing Road, the heart of Shanghai, and walking distance to bund, the famous place for lovers. There are many nice restaurants and shopping places next to each other. In addition, there are 3 subway stations nearby. The service in the hotel is consistently great and would like to go back again.
“Look no further!”
I had a great stay at the HoJo Shanghai. First rate hotel in a fantastic location. Easy to get to everything by foot or just a couple blocks from metro which goes to both airports. I am very happy I chose to stay here.
“Happy at Howard Johnson Plaza”
We booked an executive room, so that we would have a separate sitting room area to conduct training with our office staff in Shanghai. It was an ideal environment for our purpose. The only minor complaint about the stay was that the bed was a little hard - not as hard as many others in China, but even so, a little hard. We used room service a lot and the service and the food was excellent. The proximity to very busy Nanjing Road was perfect. There are 3 Starbucks within 3 blocks. Nanjing Road is full of name brands and department stores and shopping is very expensive. The days of cheap shopping in Shanghai are long gone. It's now an expensive city, as can be seen by the prices at the Howard Johnson, and other hotels in Shanghai. We would definitely recommend HoJo and would stay there again, although next time (which will be our 7th visit to Shanghai), we think we may try a hotel in the French Concession.
“Perfect location for sightseeing”
I stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. the location is perfect for sightseeing around the bund. I got upgraded to a suite, which was very nice. The food in the cantonese restaurant on the second floor was very good, and the price was very reasonable. Overall, I had a good time.
“Howard Jonhson - winter”
- Great location - Comfortable, warm (cold weather at the time we visited) and inviting room - Concierge very helpful - Didn't try any food at the hotel, but Nanjing road offers many options - Staff speaks good english - No complaints or negative comments - Hotel allowed us to have a late check out, which was much needed since our flight was at night - Near the MRT - Great experience, would definitly recommend to anybody!
“Best Location in Shanghai for Me”
This hotel is excellent value for the nice price you will get if you stay several days. The location couldn't be better; Shanghai's main shopping and walking street, Nanjing Rd., is about 1 minute from the hotel. The wonderful Shanghai Museum is at one end on Nanjing Rd. and the Bund is at the other end. The hotel's gym and internet in your room are both free! And the restaurant staff at the Chinese and international restaurants are very friendly. When we stayed at the hotel for 5 days in December, the hotel lobby was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We stayed in a Business room; it was very comfortable and the staff cleaned the room well every day. The hotel staff speaks English reasonably well, and the concierge gave me good advice on getting to sightseeing spots. There's a 7-11 and a Starbucks (Note that it opens at about 9:30) right behind the hotel, which will save you money. The foot massages across the street from the hotel (by 7-11) are good & quite cheap as well. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Shanghai. We hope to stay there again soon!
“No Reason To Look Elsewhere”
Excellent Experience and location. The price/value was outstanding. Only 4 blocks from the #2 subway line that connects to the Maglev to the airport. Arrived early and they gave me a full upgrade to a complete suite over looking the center pedestrian shopping area. Like most places in China, the staff is still learning about customer service at the front desk and bar but nothing serious to complain about. Not too far from the Bund and great shopping all around. Try the Han City knock off gallery as well as all of the "real" shopping in front at the pedestrian walking mall. At night try the Paulaner rest-o-bar. Great music with expat and local company every night.
“Thrilled to find a beautiful hotel in such a good location with reasonable room cost.”
Hotel breakfast buffet was quite good but dinner buffet was not so hot. That is okay since all sorts of good eating places nearby. At check out, I was asked to wait just a minute while a staff person checked the room frig for any unreported snack removal. I waited well over 10 minutes and the desk clerk did not make an effort to waive me off as approved until I walked over to him for find out what transpired. That was a little disappointing. No big deal. Other desk clerks helped with questions and booking tours, finding specific shops, etc. Overall, traveling by myself as a lone lady traveler was not difficult at all in Shanghai. How nice! I felt quite safe.
