Great location next to People's Square, Metro etc.Posted Aug 20, 2013
Pros: Great location. Excellent lobby. Higher class of furnishings and decor.
Very central location made getting around very easy. The room was excellent & comfortable though traditional. View was very good from the 43rd floor however full height glass would have been even more spectacular (like in some other 5 star hotels). Housekeeping did not remove a food tray from the night before, leaving a little food smell in the room - the only negative comment

Pros: The staff, the location the hotel....
Cons: Its perfect
Location: It is near to everything...
Wow what a great stay, with the best service from all your staff... Nothing was a hassle and they were so helpful at all times with giving the taxi directions in Chinese to writing down addresses for me to give to taxi drivers to giving recommendations on restaurants... I highly recommend staying at the Marriott

Great locationPosted Jun 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
Best thing with this hotel was the location The hotel itself has a great view from all common areas and from my room. However, the front desk staff didn't speak good English and the hotel wasn't as modern and nicely designed/decorated as I've hoped. All in all, an okay stay.

Great locationPosted Mar 12, 2013
Pros: The location
Cons: The room decoration
Location: Fantastic, within walking distance of many great Shanghai highlights
Our room was clean and a very good size. I felt like the rooms were very well sound-proofed, which was wonderful because we had our children with us. The location is fabulous and within walking distance of Xin Tian Di and West Nanjing Lu. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I do think our room could have been updated a bit (carpeting/furniture), but the size of the room and the amenities were great.

Gorgeous hotel on edge of People's Square ShanghaiPosted Nov 14, 2012
Pros: Clean, height, staff
Location: A good half hour walk to the bund, 10 mins from the French Concession and right on top of the People's Square
Wow - the JW Marriot is up in the clouds in Tomorrow Square. The staff are excellent, the room was lovely (We upgraded upon arrival, but am sure that all rooms would be nice), the amenities were good - including breakfast. Note that we got a taxi from the hotel to the airport. The staff aided us by flagging one down. While not related to the staff or the hotel, the driver saw an opportunity and his funky meter charged us over double what it had cost us to come in from the same airport! (500Y) We queried him, but he was pretty aggressive and we ended up paying him slightly more than the cost should have been. We called the hotel to ask them to discuss with the driver - which they did - but they were not really in a position to help us. I am more writing this note so that others - who are advised once the meter is on a cab in Shanghai then they are safe from fraud - know that meters can be tampered with. The kilometre reading on this one stayed the same from the point of departure to the airport in Pudong. So keep an eye on the meter! (and perhaps the hotel could have a standing arrangement with cabbies they know to be honest and who will have a vested interest in not ripping off JW Marriot clientelle). Otherwise all was lovely!
