Smoking Visitors OnlyPosted Jun 22, 2012
Pros: Proximity to Fudan University; pleasant staff
Location: Removed from central Shanghai, but close enough to the subway that it doesn't matter.
This hotel might barely qualify as four stars in China, but is more like a three- or even 2.5-star in other countries. It is very tired and smells everywhere of cigarette smoke. Having said that, the staff were reasonably helpful (though nearly failed to return my deposit). The location is very good if you are visiting Fudan University, though the nearby Crowne Plaza might be more comfortable. It is a short walk to Line 3 on the subway and very safe (as is most of China). I would stay here again if I couldn't find anything else, but the smell of smoke was really dreadful.

Hotel is clean and modern. Breakfast quality not good especially the coffee. Air Conditioner did not work well this trip, they said it was the same all over the hotel. Hotel personnel speaks marginal English. Worst part, in good area of town, but far away from areas where you will find a Starbucks, McDonalds, KFC or Subway. No Western style food anywhere nearby. Have stayed here 3 times before, will probably not stay again due to location.

Nice hotelPosted Jul 1, 2009
I thought this hotel was quite nice. Their staff is very friendly and helpful, and they also speak English. The man at the front ran down the street to hail a cab for us, and was very helpful with our bags and questions. The hotel was clean on the inside, had a flat screen tv, huge bathroom, and a good view out the window. The only downside to this hotel was the overpriced deposit insurance for the room of 1000RMB (even though I had already paid in full for the hotel room). It is reimbursed, but travelers should know to come with that much cash beforehand. I think the prices at the hotel were a bit much if you booked it there. The location is alright if you are visiting Fudan university, it is quite close by taxi. Other locations will take a walk as this place is not near a subway stop.
