Luxury on Nanjing Road

Posted Sep 28, 2014
Pros: Location, cleanliness, comfort, views, friendly helful staff, great online deal, fantastic breakfast.
Location: The location is great as you have so many things literally on doorstep - one door leads out to the People's Park and another leads you to nanjing Rd.
Le Meridien was such a lovely surprise once we arrived in Shanghai. We had booked online and got a great deal. The room was a twin share for my friend and I and it was spacious, comfortable, clean and everything wonderful you need when travelling. If you're looking for comfort, kind, friendly helpful staff right on Nanjing Rd so close to everything and a stroll to the Bund, this is the ideal place.

Great central location.

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Pros: Comfortable and great central location.
Cons: English understanding. Some minor basics not up to standard as indicated above. English folder on hotel facilities etc not present.
Location: Generally covered above
Building visible on skyline to get bearings. Fantastic views from top level bar. Close to Metro, shops and opposite people square. No second roll of toilet paper in room at any time which was very annoying. Promised a free cup of coffee each day @ Lat 31 with a voucher to be left in room each day. Received 3 only in a 9 day stay. Free Wi-Fi in room and within hotel was excellent. Rooms modern and a good comfortable size for a couple. Restaurants expensive particularly buffet breakfast when you are not that hungry but Sunday lunch with bottomless glass Moet good value if you like Moet. Room service breakfast better option but English understanding not good but typical throughout Shanghai. Ordered a vegetarian Pizza one night and received Peas and mashed potato. Traffic a nightmare particularly battery motor bikes which sneak up behind you on footpaths and never stop at lights. Traffic lights mean nothing to both vehicles or pedestrians. Most taxi drivers do not speak English and enjoy driving you to the airport at 120 km/hr swerving in and out of traffic, max. speed limit 80!. Another taxi went past us. Unfortunately did not know the Chinese word to slow down as we were sure we would not survive if he had an accident. The quote 70 mins from Airport to central Shanghai these racing car drivers do it in 45 min even with heavy traffic in parts. Our limo driver on way in was no better. Enjoyed Shanghai very clean, modern with plenty of parks. Xintiandi and Yuyuan gardens a must.

Very nice hotel, great location

Posted Sep 15, 2014
Pros: Location; Food
Cons: Air Conditioner wasn't working well. This is our second time at this hotel and we experienced the same problem each time. Wifi is slow.
Location: Shopping, walking touring, eating
Upscale hotel, excellent location; great buffet meals for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Great for tourist because it is right on Nanjing Road, a great place to walk. Convenient to Bund or Peoples Square.

Good location but otherwise horrible

Posted Aug 8, 2014
Pros: Location only
Cons: Cleanliness. Need soap, etc. in room.
Location: Next to Nanjing Road.
Hotel not clean. Food in cafe was not fresh, place very dirty and we talked to manager and told him. No change as a result of that!

Extra Bed

Posted Jun 18, 2014 on Hotels.com
We had stayed , because we heard about it from many people. We paid for 3 Pax in a Room, but we were charged RMB 245 for Extra Bed. We have been staying in all leading chains , but extra bed charges are included in room rent for 3 ppl. It was ridiculous, that after paying for 3 Pax, we needed to pay for an extra bed too. Please take a kind note of the same. In any case we needed a refund of the same. Wont recommend this Hotel for visitors to Shanghai.
