Will come back again and againPosted Oct 30, 2013
Excellent location, friendly front desk Staff, very comfortable room with sitting area and desk. The alley that another reviewer mentioned is actually quite nice and a great view into the real shanghai--that is, the clean, safe back streets where well off shanghainese live! The hotel also had a baby crib in the room per my request via expedia and at 11pm when I asked if they knew a fruit stand where I could buy bananas for my baby's breakfast, one of the staff offered to go and buy. I told him I only needed $1.50 worth and came back at 11:20p with a bunch of bananas and wouldn't accept any a tip. I speak Chinese so that helped but the story gives you an idea of the kindness of the staff. Will go back again and again if price stays at similar level.

Royal Court Hotel ShanghaiPosted Dec 11, 2010 on Hotels.com
Tha situation of the hotel is in a convenient place in the French Concession, with good shopping all around. The room was very comfortable, and the staff helpful. The only drawback were the breakfast facilities, which were really rather old fashoined. I would stay there again, and have done already, and think the hotel was good value.

Great location and nice place.Posted Nov 24, 2010
Room was nice, though bed was a bit hard. Hotel is v conveniently located, as other reviewers have noted. Very good service at front desk. Two issues: breakfast buffet is rather poor and priced too high; could not use their internet connection--which was a great inconvenience, as no internet cafe is close at hand. Did not encounter this problem at any other hotel in China. Also, as in every other China hotel save one, the room was too hot and the temperature could not be lowered. Hotel staff said to open a window, which we did--and woke up with mosquito bites.

Nice Location and Hotel- Beware if you do not speak ChinesePosted Jun 29, 2010
This hotel is very well located; but a little difficult to find. It is tucked away off the main road, so is a nice and quiet but central location. It does make it difficult to find though. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable, though the bathroom was very small. If you do not speak or understand the Mandarin Chinese, just beware some of the staff will try to over charge you for breakfast and internet use. If you require a taxi, it's best to walk to the main street and flag your own.
