Non smoking in China... it is a challengePosted Aug 24, 2012
Pros: Location and room cleanliness
Cons: The breakfast and the smoking areas
Location: Very good location
The location of the hotel is very convenient, is close to a metro station (Zhenping station line 7, 3 and 4), and it is very easy to move in Shanghai using metro either from any of the main train stations or the airport. The staff is very kind, they will help you by writting any address in Chinese, in case you want to take a taxi. Our room was clean and with most of the facilities you will find in a 4 star hotel. Cons: there is only 1 floor non-smoking 22, and we spent more than 2 hours to get a room on that floor, after arguing with them and changing the room 2 times we got a lesser category room (twin room) on that floor instead of the double room we booked. They will make you sign a paper where they are saying that they are giving a suite but came on... it is soo naive, but any way we took the room. Even though this is non smoking floor still some will smoke there in front of the elevator, and they don't care, at least you dont feel that terrible cigarrete smell in the room, a little bit in few ocassions but way better than any other floor. The breakfast is a chinnese buffet, so there is a lot of food but oily and fried, 1 or 2 options western style, so dont keep high expectations, and try to arrive early, not because of the food, but the mess, people leaving will make a mess and the staff from the hotel doesn't care too much about cleaning. You can get healthy food in an other place.

A litle off the tourist track, but MRT station behind hotel.Posted Sep 16, 2011
Having stayed in Shanghai before, we wanted to hotel in a differnt location, to where we had stayed before, and this hotel provided us with that. As indicated, it is a little off the tourist track, however there is an MRT station, within 5 min walking distance from the hotel. The Shanghai MRT is very easy to work out with english instructions everywhere, and the MRT IS the best (and cheapest) way to get around town. All the hotel staff we encountered were very pleasent, and helpful. There was also a machine in the lobby which could answer questions in english about where to eat, shop etc. Our hotel room was a little "tired" and a renovation would have certainly given it a huge lift. We felt the cleanliness of the room could have been a wee bit better. (maybe it was because the tired factor as mentioned above, the room felt a bit dirty) That said it, both of these I would discribe as "want" rather than "need" as certainly both were adequate. Would we stay there again? - yes (if it suited or purpose) as we saw a different part of Shanghai (more of real Shanghai, as the surrounding area was residential) and I think the price we paid for our room was fair and reasonable.

Adequate hotelPosted Jun 12, 2011 on Hotels.com
The room was fine, but 1) you have to remonstrate with the hotel and pay a deposit before you can make phone calls 2) they gave me an already-occupied room at first (duh!), 3) a housekeeper came in the evening with an electric outlet adjuster although I hadn't asked for it, and insisted that i sign for it!, and 4) you have to get their help to go online. The hotel is several kms. from the centre, but right on two subway routes. I recommend the nearby Famous Restaurant. Buffet breakfast at hotel okay, but items are mislabelled.

lly rough on the edges . Carpets were very dirty and windows the same. BREAKFAST WAS TERRIBLE and not fitting most hotels in the region.

Everything (location, transportation, service) is good. Except that the facility is bit old.

Good location and Good ValuePosted Nov 9, 2010
Next to the MRT on Line 3, Line 4 and Line 7 which is very convenient. Good value includes buffet breaksfast. Room was clean and very well sound proofed with double glazing. Some renovation underway but I would certainly recommend this hotel to any budget minded traveller for business or just getting the feel of the city.

Convenient hotel in an outlying neighborhoodPosted Nov 8, 2010
The Hotel is convenient as it is located near two subway stations so getting around Shanghai is easy. The neighborhood in mainly residential which is OK if you want to mix in with the locals. My reservation included breakfast which was very convenient and the food was good Chinese style breakfast food. The tables were not the cleaniest everything else was fine. My room was small but OK since I only needed a place to sleep at night. The room had a TV and internet cable. The bathroom was clean and plenty of hot water.
