Worn hotel with rude staff

Posted Sep 4, 2014
Pros: Clean
Cons: Polite staff, experienced staff, functional wifi and removal of men offering the 'comfort' services of women.
The hotel outwardly appeared good however beyond that we felt as though it was just a facade. The service was poor and the staff handling day to day things were very inexperienced or down right rude. We ordered room service and they sent a person up who handed me the plates one by one, instead of rolling in the tray all at once. Nobody could figure out how to use the coffee machine. Although wifi was supposed to be included, it was a very poor connection that rendered it useless. None of the staff would help with this issue either. Generally, the front desk staff have no sense of serving customers in a queue. We stood there for 15 minutes waiting to be served while people behind us and sideways were being served. When we interjected, we were yelled at by the manager himself! Above all, what made this a very nasty hotel generally is the fact that there was a vagrant man on the front steps throughout the stay, that would offer us on a nightly basis 'comfort' and 'massage' services by women. This was in very poor taste and we were shocked that the hotel staff did not attempt to remove that person from their premises.

Great location, good room.

Posted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: The location excellent, very close to the East Nanjing Road metro station and to the Bund.
Location: East Nanjing Road metro station allows for good connectivity to all of Shanghai.
I really don't speak much chinese but this didn't cause any problem. The staff were friendly and pleasant throughout the stay.

The location is really convenient. The staff is very friendly. However, the bed is really hard, not comfortable.

Good for proximity

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Good location of the hotel . But I was a bit disappointed . The shower sink wasn't working properly so had to take very quick shower , the wifi doesn't work properly during the night. I stayed at the hotel for 6 day, the carpet in my room was durty ( wine , coffee spot ), bed not comfortable ... But I had a good view and close to a lot of places so that was perfect.

Location, value for money

Posted Jul 31, 2014
Pros: location, value for money, view, upgraded to 17th floor
Cons: Wifi was down the entire time. Needs to be improved.
Location is excellent. Within walking distance to the main shopping district and People Square. We were upgraded to the executive room on 17th floor and were very pleased with a comfortable and beautiful room. There was renovation going on on the 18th floor as they gave a notice to apologise for the noise. However, we were pleasantly surprised that there was no noise at all in the morning and we slept through all the way till the late morning. Overall it's clean and comfortable. Spectacular view of the river flowing out to The Bund as the hotel is situated just beside the river. Most importantly, it's super value for money for getting more than what we paid for.

Fantastic views of the Bund

Posted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: Location and views of the Bund/river.
Cons: The cost of their drinks/mini bar items.
Location: Very near the action of the Bund.
After a horrible experience losing my camera with all my photos it was great to check into a hotel and find that we had been upgraded to a premium suite on 14th floor with views of the Bund and the river. Heaps of space, huge bathroom, fridge, separate lounge area - lovely stay. The only downside is the price of the drinks/mini bar. I made the big mistake of ordering a drink without looking at the prices first and found that it cost me $24! Also beware of the mini bar prices - cokes cost 28 yuan whereas outside they cost around 5 yuan so if you plan on getting thirsty in the middle of the night, make sure you stock up your mini bar/drinks before you go to bed! Otherwise, an excellent stay and fantastic location.

Excellent hotel

Posted Jul 19, 2014
Pros: Excellent in all categories
Cons: -
Location: In the heart of Shanghai, very convenient.
An all round excellent hotel that is fantastic value for money. The staff are exceptionally helpful, it's a less than 5 minute walk from Shanghai's main shopping street, the rooms and beds are extremely comfortable and the food is high quality but affordable. On floor two there is also Shanghai's only Russian bar/club. Expectations exceeded, very happy.

great location, short walk to east nanjing station, metro line 2. no problems w late check in. courteous staff. had train tickets ordered from usa online delivered to hotel and ready for pick up. worn but clean, western style rooms. could not get wifi to work, but sure the staff could have remedied if stayed longer than we did (just passing thru shanghai overnight).

Pros: Lucky to have large room with good view.
Cons: Short stay so not noticed
Location: Near the centre so easy access to down town.
Right hotel, right place, right time, right price. Couldn't have chosen better.
