Comfortable, close to subway & Peoples' square

Posted Apr 18, 2014
Pros: Very roomy and we'll appointed. Hotel entry staff very helpful and assisted with transport and location needs.
Cons: The door knobs for the wardrobes are of a poor design (sharp square edges) and incorrectly fixed in the middle of the doors making it awkward use.
Location: Very close to subway and peoples square. Great coffee place (Costas) around the corner who made a great brew of both normal and Decaffeinated coffe.
Overall we were pleased with our stay. Only a minute to the subway where you can catch line 1 to Xujaihui for shopping and restaurants

Beautiful hotel with nice location

Posted Apr 14, 2014
Pros: Location, Bathroom and quiet.
Cons: They sprayed too much fragrance in the lobby, I am very sensitive to the smell, so I think the hotel should not use fragrance in the lobby.
Location: It's just one block from the People's Square, and you can easily walk to Nanjing Road and The Bund, and you may take metro to anywhere in Shanghai.
I have seen this hotel before but never stayed there, once I stepped into the room, I love it immediately! The hotel is very quiet, the room is big with huge bathroom, and the best thing about the bathroom is a huge Jacuzzi with lights and music choices. The toilet and shower were separated, and the shower was equipped with sauna. This hotel was the best among the 6 hotels we stayed during in China. And the location is excellent, metro station is only half block away (Exit No. 4 for line 1, 2, 8 at People's Square). We both loved this hotel, if we go back to Shanghai, we will definitely stay there again!

Nice boutique hotel, excellent location

Posted Apr 14, 2014
Pros: Simple and clean room with comfortable bed. Good service for the room and at the door. Quiet and not too many people.
Cons: A more intuitive in room air conditioner controller
Location: 2-minute walk to the nice long pedestrian-only shopping street leading to the famous Bund. Museums within walking distance too.
I had visited Shanghai many times in the past 20 years. Normally I chose to stay at the large hotel chain hotels. This time I decided to try a small boutique type of hotel. Overall, I am pleased to select this hotel for my visit this time. I booked two rooms. My room is comfortable with a good size shower room and a separate bathtub. But, the other room is a little smaller and has a small shower room and a separate bathtub. The bed is clean and very comfortable...just like my number air bed at home. The air conditioning controller in the room is a little hard to use/set. You never know if it works or not. Luckily the room air and temperature was good for us...in good April weather. Breakfast is good - simple but sufficient for a business or sight-seeing day. Location is excellent in general...few minutes to subway and taxi readily available to Pudong business and/or other destinations. Besides the Japanese restaurant (good food) at the first floor, did not have a chance to try other facilities/services this time. The bell boy remembered to have a taxi ready for a 7AM departure from the hotel to the airport. A friendly and responsive service.

Art deco, comfy bed, TV in bathroom

Posted Apr 12, 2014
The art deco theme was beautiful and the room was very spacious. The bed was comfy and the huge bathroom had a very nice shower and a TV over the tub. The staff was very helpful with dinner reservations, etc.

Nice location

The hotel is nice but a bit expensive. It is close to the touristic district and far enough for a quiet environment. (2 minutes walking distance)

Perfect location and luxury

Posted Apr 5, 2014
Pros: Art Deco luxury
Cons: Service in the Chinese restaurant on tge second floor is too slow.
Location: Bund, People's Park, Shanghai Museum
We were upgraded to the Presidential Suite at no extra charge. What a wonderful experience. This is the first time I ever stayed in a 25 star hotel! This is a very nice hotel even if you don't get upgraded. It is in the Bund area just across the road from People's Park and the Shanghai museum. The Bund itself is a short walk from the hotel. The dining room service is a little expensive, particularly for breakfast. Best go around the corner to Jamaica Blue for a quarter of the price. However, for authentic Italian food (I kid you not) this would have to be the best restaurant in Shanghai. This hotel is thoroughly recommended.

Very nice hotel and building, but broken a/c?

Posted Jan 14, 2014 on Hotels.com
We loved the hotel. The rooms aren't big, but cousy and the hotel building is very nice. However, it was awfully hot throughout our stay. Setting the a/c to lower temperatures didn't help at all. I assume the a/c did not work properly.
