poorly managed

Posted May 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
I arrived at 4 pm and the room was not ready for check in. I was asked to wait and I waited for 45 minutes without a welcome drink or a hot towel which is normally expected. I was then given a room that is less than what I paid for. I went back to the front desk to inquire and they apologized and corrected the type of room I got. I only knew about the different kinds of rooms because I stayed there once before when it used to be Sofitel. The room was poorly maintained and the AC fan was super loud. The wifi in the room and the in room safe did not work and when I called the front desk to ask for help the attendant did not sound enthusiastic and just quickly told me that he will inform the maintainance department. Three hours later nobody came to help. I called again and asked the attendant for his name and requested help with the safe so I can lock up my valuables and go to the beach. My voice was upset and firm. They came quickly to help but were not able to fix the safe or wifi. I had fun anyway because Sharm El Sheikh is beautiful and a lot of fun but the hotel was poorly managed and the staff were poorly trained. Too much talk and no action.

very pretty hotel with a great room an balcony. Food was marginal both at breakfast and at the pool restaurant. Overall, I really like Movenpick and would go back.

The hotel falls towards the sea in an natural Amphitheatre and has 4 beaches, with direct access to the house reef ~ snorkelling was great fun with a wide range of fish & corals.Really good breakfasts, very comfy beds with lovely views from our balcony.

Pros: Views from the rooms, beach, pool, spa.....everything really! Walking distance to lively Nama Bay shopping are which we did every night!
Location: Fun, bustling Nama Bay shops and restaurants were a nice walk to do in the evening. We had lots of fun!
Spent 6 nights and had a wonderful relaxing time. Not too crazy busy. Pool divine and snorkeling fantastic.

Would recommend but...

Pros: Clean, good restaurants, staff appreciated a little Arabic, clientele mostly Russian not many Europeans now, estimate it was half full.
Cons: Clearer pricing on Expedia website
Location: It is a good location about 30 mins walk to Naama centre.
Although the hotel itself is very good the problem was that Expedia advertised a discounted rate for Egyptians only on the British website. This meant I was charged an extra 20 euros per night for being a Brit. I felt that it was not clear when booking that an extra charge would be levied. This somewhat spoiled our arrival and left us feeling aggrieved. It is not a reflection of the hotel, it seemed they were embarrassed as well and had had the problem many times before with non Egyptians.

Beautiful views

Beautiful hotel with wonderful views of the sea. The resort is quite big so getting to reception can be tricky. Overall the hotel is very nice and about 10-15 minutes walk from the main naama bay strip.
