Shelter Island Vacations
Shelter Island is the perfect place to stay while you are in San Diego as many of the city’s main attractions are nearby. Two attractions that should top every visitor’s itinerary is the fascinating San Diego Yacht Club and the much-loved Rock Church. If you have time, don’t miss NTC Promenade and the Naval Base Coronado.
Be sure to visit some of the nearby museums and galleries, which help make this region the special place it is. In particular, you should make sure you check out the USS Midway Museum. There are some excellent art galleries to visit including the Coronado Museum of History and Art in Coronado.
If you are into nature, go and check out the nearby parks and reserves. These are good spots to relax. There are some pleasant family parks, so why not take a break in Spreckels Park in Coronado. To discover the nearby wilderness head out to the Cabrillo National Monument and the Old Town San Diego State Park. Reconnect with nature at one of the local beaches, for example Coronado Beach and the Ocean Beach Park.
You’ll find Shelter Island’s sporting heart at the iconic Petco Park, home of the popular San Diego Padres baseball team in summer. True sports obsessives also have the opportunity to tour the locker rooms and visit the VIP boxes of Petco Park by taking a behind the scenes tour.
When you’re ready to put your feet up after a long day exploring the delights of Shelter Island, check in to one of the many local short and long stay accommodation options. The Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina, the Wyndham San Diego Bayside and the Dana on Mission Bay are just three of the many great places to stay around here.
