Shenzhen Hailian Hotel

Posted May 17, 2013 on Hotels.com
My wife and I stayed at the Hailian Hotel in Shenzhen for one night on our way from Guangzhou to Hong Kong, we were able to take the Luobao Line to the Guomao stop and then it was an easy five minute walk to the hotel from there. When we left for Hong Kong we simply returned to the Guomao station and then travelled to the end of the Luobao line to Luohu station to catch the Shenzhen to Hong Kong metro. Finding the hotel was easy as it was a big place with a large street frontage and a big gold sign over the entrance. Checking in was straight forward quick and the staff member very friendly and spoke quite good English as well as giving us plenty of useful information on the hotel and the surrounding area. Our room was a large double with a spacious separate ensuite, a good size king bed, a beautiful view out over Shenzhen and a large TV with cable channels. The room was one of the nicest we stayed in during our whole month in China as it was clean, comfortable, well laid out and well Maintained. We had some trouble connecting to the hotel WIFI on our floor but we found a cluster of small funky bars with free WIFI about two minutes walk from the hotel. All this was topped off with a check out time of 12pm which made for a very enjoyable stay that we would definitely repeat if we one day return to Shenzhen.

The hotel is quite bad. No one speaks english. Any request and they wont understand. Breakfast is free only till 6 yuan and above that you pay. Everything in the hotel room is charged even water and soap. Overall very bad. Would never go there again.

The hotel is placed in Lohou district, rooms were ok if you are staying with your collegue definitely not with your family. I could locate three indian hotels,i visited 1947 it was good but very expensive. Its near to Lohou railways station and easily accessable to subway's.

Hailian is a Delightful and Inexpensive Hotel

Posted Aug 22, 2011 on Hotels.com
I found the staff of this small hotel to helpful and kind. They went out of their way to make sure that I was comfortable. However, if you afraid of being able to communicate with the staff, please stay at another hotel because their English is very limited. I was able to communicate well enough using Cantonese though the staff mainly spoke Mandarin. The room is certainly not as nice as the rooms shown through the photo's but they are clean. As far as convenience, it is in the heart of Louhu district and very near the train station and major bus terminus. I even found a Walmart and a Starbucks close by the hotel. So, if you are on a limited budget, and are looking for a clean and safe location, then Hailian is a good place to stay.

Stay away unless you absolutely don't care where to stay

I might not just be an expreienced enough traveller, but it's the fist time every I saw a wide selection of condoms at my bedtable and just as wide selection of dispensary panties in my bathroom! Needless to say, that the room was smoking although we ordered non-smoking. It was extremely loud throughout the whole night and at about 10 a.m. the maids almost burst into my door although I had the "do not disturb" light on. The rooms were clean, spacious and a kind of modern in terms of design, but definitely meed some alterations. No taxi driver knew how to get there (be sure you take the address written in Chinese with you!!!), but after we once found it we discovered that a metro station (Guamao) was a 5 minute walk form the hotel. Right nearby there an excellent hotpot restaurant with a wide selection. Supermarket and a shopping area are nearby, but the city center is somewhat far.
