A Hot experience in ShenzhenPosted Aug 9, 2014
Pros: Next door is a 24 hours restaurant which comes in very handy when anyone is hungry.
Cons: The television reception in the room is not very clear for a number of channels. If this can be fixed, everything seems to be perfect with this hotel
Location: Not far from the Luhou Station where one might need to cross over to Hong Kong. Lot's of shops and eateries just within walking distance
A very warm and friendly hotel with staff always looking forward in assisting guests. I had problems with my WIFI in the room and within minutes, 2 staff came to my room to assist me in fixing the problem.I am happy with this hotel and will recommend to anyone visiting either for business or leisure.

The Decline of the Panglin HotelPosted Apr 13, 2014
Pros: That I was only there one day.
Cons: Hotel staff. Update rooms.
Location: Right near border crossing to HK. Louwo Commercial City is a huge shopping mall for tourists. Plenty of other shopping and places to eat.
Awful experience. I have stayed in this hotel in 2009 and 2011 but now (in 2014) the hotel has become unbearable. The staff are the most sour-faced, unwelcoming, rude people I have encountered in any hotel anywhere in the world. They are just condescending and dismissive. I would fire all of them and whomever is managing them. I stayed on an executive floor and the room while large, was dank and musty smelling. Just foul. Not what I would expect at this hotel and not what I experienced before. While the breakfast buffet is still good and of course, the hotel has a majestic, marble entrance, the complete unprofessional nature of the front desk staff as well as the "oldness and musty smell" in the room means this is my final time at the Panglin. Spend the extra money and stay at Shangri La if you have to stay in the Louwo District.

NicePosted Mar 19, 2014
By western standards there are a few little things that are less then ideal but when you are on adventure you would expect this. Overall it was nice. There is a nice spa in the hotel and of course in China the cost for such services are very low.

Close to some local restaurantsPosted Jan 27, 2014
Hotel said it was renovated in 2012, but doesn't show in room and even worse in bathroom. I won't stay there again.

Good Hotel in the old centre of Shenzhen.Posted Jan 16, 2014
Pros: The service was great
Cons: Breakfast was ordinary but as I got in in the room cost I was happy.
Location: Convenient to Dongmen markets and Metro stations on various lines
Great room service and prompt response to issues that are normal at the hotel like internet connection to multiple devices and lack of local phone number to gain access.

Shower too lowPosted Jan 1, 2014 on Hotels.com
Only 2 issues: shower was way too low, roughly waist level. WiFi was easy setup if you have a Chinese phone number, but for foreigners they had to send somebody up to my room and set up a dedicated WiFi router. It worked well, but was time consuming, and they could have asked me at check-in rather than me having to discover it on my own.

Rooms need updating. Little English spokenPosted Oct 1, 2013
Cons: The rooms are very dark and dated. Fittings broken and worn.
Rooms need updating and the one I stayed in was very dark and dated. Some items broken/in poor repair. Overall room could have done with a good thorough clean. If you don't speak Mandarin, would not recommend that you stay at this hotel, unless you have a colleague or friend that does speak Mandarin and can help to translate for you. Not all the restaurants in this hotel are part of the hotel and the bill cannot be booked to your room. Some of the restaurants do not take VISA and will only accept a local/domestic credit card. (Same as many restaurants/shops in Shenzhen).

Very good hotel close to shopping malls .Posted Sep 29, 2013
Pleasant stay.Room large, clean and comfortable with modern private facilities.Walking distance to busy local shopping centres both directions.Had slight difficulty with cab drivers as they are not familiar with the English name of the hotel.May be Expedia could include the hotel name iin Chinese as well on confirmation document to show driver.Hotel is a five star hotel.

a great slightly older style but great pricedPosted Aug 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
I always stay in this Hotel when I come to Shenzen, for me its better than Sunshine across the road. Not only am I often checked in a early as 9 am with no extra charge but it has all you want from a five star with a three star price Its baroque style its circa 1999 when it was built but its well maintained. It's pronounced PANYUN in Chinese which is useful to know when you need to tell a taxi!
