Change of pace from bed and breakfastsPosted Jun 3, 2015
Pros: We loved the fact that it was an historic building with lovely grounds and a great ambiance. We can see why this is a popular wedding venue.
Cons: There was only one price for the breakfast and it was not cheap compared to other costs. A lower price for a continental breakfast would be good.
Location: Madeley Court is close to the Iron Bridge Gorge World Heritage site and a short drive to the town of Shrewsbury, with its Tudor architecture.
After staying at small bed and breakfast establishments (although they were nice and we enjoyed them), it was great to be in a large room (with a huge bathroom) on the first floor and be able to have dinner without leaving the premises. Dinner was excellent also. Our stop at the Madeley Court served as a bit of a respite from our hectic motor tour of England (although we only stayed one night).

Good location, not a 4* thoughPosted May 17, 2015
I booked this hotel for a company books g as we were exhibiting at the nearby international centre. While the price was good and the venue looks superb as you pull up, once you get to your room things change a bit. I'm certainly not saying the hotel is bad, it's just not as good as it thinks it is. The rooms are small and feel old and tired with no Air Con. One thing I will not criticise is the staff, without a doubt all of the staff were brilliant. Very personable, friendly and helpful. Ellie, on reception recommended an amazing Indian in Ironbridge (PONDICHERRY) which I cannot praise enough. We ate at the hotel on Friday night and only made it to the restraunt at 10 which is when they close, all staff, food and service were superb and the kitchen was kept open until almost midnight and we were made to feel very comfortable. If you are after a reasonable hotel with great relaxed service and good food I suggest you stay here, if like one customer I heard sounding off, you want a nice big room with modern furnishings and a great fitness centre I suggest you find somewhere else.

Nice hotel close to telfordPosted May 8, 2015
Great hotel, very close to ironbridge. Bit of a taxi journey in Telford but very cheap trip which cost only 5 or 6 pounds considering the distance from the centre. Comfortable room, good shower and bed. Recommend it if you want a hotel out of the town or if you are going out to Telford.

Could be so much better!Posted Mar 28, 2015 on Hotels
Lovely setting, beautiful old building. We were in a new wing. Standard type basic room. Only One bedside light, very thin duvet and no blanket (both problems remedied next day). Spotlight outside room that stayed on all night so room permanently lit. Room very dusty and not very clean. Bed hard and plasticky mattress protector - in dire need of a soft topper. Only 2 teabags per day and the mint tea not replaced at all, no biscuits. The saving grace was the excellent breakfast - great choice and all superbly cooked - full marks to the chef. Waitress staff excellent too. This is such a lovely building and setting it is a shame that the overall impression is of a hotel that is scrimping at every opportunity.

Do not stay here if you have children.Posted Feb 22, 2015
Do not stay here if you have children. The noises coming from the above room woke us up in the night and kept us awake for hours. This hotel is NOT 3.42 miles from Shrewsbury, more like 15miles.
