Good hotel in heart of townPosted Aug 15, 2014
We wanted a hotel close to the station and this was a good choice. The night porter was a gem, keeping the bar going for a late nightcap. My sole, and minor, criticism regards the breakfast arrangements in that, although they served until 10am, when we arrived at 9.30 it seemed that most guests had been and gone and we were shunted into a table in the far corner, away from everyone else. I don't know why, there were plenty of tables available and why make the staff walk so much further? I suspect it was toward the end of the session and I got the impression that if everyone else got down in good time then why couldn't we. If we return, I'll make sure I insist on a table of my choice.

Hotel with characterPosted Aug 10, 2014
Pros: Chambers restaurant is excellent, I would make a point of going there even if not staying in the hotel.
Old building with plenty of character. Only downside was our room faced the street and there was a fair amount of noise outside on Saturday night.

A few days breakPosted Jul 18, 2014
Pros: Friendly considerate staff, excellent atmosphere. First class food in the Royalist restaurant.
Location: The Prince Rupert is in the heart of the main shopping area, so very easy to get to everywhere. Would recommend the walk around the river.
a few days in lovely Shrewsbury. Very good shopping and sightseeing.

Very good locationPosted Jun 14, 2014 on Hotels.com
Very good typical old hotel with creaky floors and odd shaped rooms but very clean and great location - like the complimentary valet parking!

Great location, good value hotelPosted Jun 11, 2014 on Hotels.com
I only had a short stay but the staff were all very friendly, the location is excellent being right in centre of historic town, room very clean and had everything needed (except fridge), very good value overall. Only down side is the hotel a bit dated inside.

My third stay at this excellent hotelPosted May 22, 2014 on Hotels.com
The downside is the difficulty of access by car and the need for a car to be removed and parked elsewhere. I also had difficulties when I tried to alter a booking made through the internet. A member of staff at the hotel said that she would attend to this. I heard nothing for a month, and when I checked the position I was told that the staff at the hotel could not alter the booking as I had booked on line. I should have been told this in the first place.

Very good for being in the heart of the town.Posted May 1, 2014
Pros: Convenient for the centre of town.
Cons: The floorboards on the first floor. Some re-furbishment in the standard rooms.
Location: It is a lovely town to just potter around in and look at the architecture. There are some very good shops that you don't find in other towns.
The hotel seemed quite full when we arrived and we were put into a very small room which was stuffy, warm and noisy . The following day we were asked if we wanted to upgrade. The new room on the floor above was lovely: large, well furnished, a four-poster bed and a very nice bathroom. it was also quiet. The breakfasts were good and went on until 10am. The staff were very nice and helpful. The hotel was central and there was a very good bar and a restaurant not far away.
