“Angkor Palace”

There was not a single negative aspect to this hotel. The building and grounds were beautiful, the restaurant was excellent and the best feature of all were the people. Numerous employees and all very willing to help with any requests. Five star ratings do not always mean what you should expect for the highest ratings, especially in some foreign countries, this hotel deserved the rating.

“This was a dream hotel in the middle of a dream place”

I loved the location of the hotel. The grounds were beautiful and the staff and restaurants were wonderful. I can't say enough about my entire experience in this place, spa included. Hope to come back soon.

“Better than Expected!”

We stayed here for 6 nights and loved it. The hotel is on the edge of town but quick tuk-tuk ride away from the Old Market and restaurants. The property itself is exceptionally clean and well maintained. Our first room didn't cool properly but we were quickly relocated to another room (without the pool view) and it was lovely. The bedroom and bath were very large and the cleaning service is fantastic! Friendly staff thoughout the hotel. We loved the pool...crystal clear, fun design, swim-up bar, never crowded. Buffet breakfast was a little too heavy on the asian influence for our personal taste but we still found plenty of great selections each day. We would recommend this hotel without hesitation!

“A Yankee in the Orient”

The Ankor Palace Resort & Spa is a wonderful place to call your temporary home while exploring the wonders of Siem Reap. The staff makes the hotel amazing, they are warm, ever courtieous, and sweet people, always prepared to make excellent recommendations or accomodations to make your stay a pleasant experience. For a minimal fee of $20/day (from early morning to late at night) you can have a tuk tuk driver all to yourself to take you to the temples, the town, and the best restaurants and shopping. I would recommend a tuk tuk to a driver and guide (which cost $70 for about 5 hours of touring), they are more personable and want to make you happy not make money. The hotel is lovely, and at night, the call of frogs and geckos complement a sweet smelling breeze and light rain. The swim up bar is a lovely addition, as well! A great stay, and after traveling the world for the past 20 years, I can say it is in the top 2 hotels I have ever stayed in. When we come back, we will definitely be staying in the Angkor Palace Resort and Spa! O-kun!

Getting around

Hire a tuk tuk, they are just as fast, the air movement from driving is better than air conditioning, and they are cheap. The drivers are personable and will take to you see either the best tourist places, or, if you're like my husband and I, the real Cambodia.

What to pack

Don't pack heavy: it is hot year round. There are great markets with light weight cotton shirts and Khmre pants, that look great and feel like you're wearing next to nothing (which you'll be greatful for when it is at it's hottest during the day.) Bring sneakers or comforatable walking shoes for the temples, and flip flops and sandals for walking around town. Leave room in your luggage: there is great shopping!

Shopping

The old market and night market are great, but watch out for the "silver." Most is plated. Instead, ask your tuk tuk driver to take you to a reputable silver store. Silk is amazing and relatively cheap here, so if you're a lady looking to get great fabric for professional suits: here is your place! BARTER BARTER BARTER. Most shops will come down at least 30%, some up to 75% off their asking price. Enjoy!

“#1 Hotel in Siem Reap”

Fabulous hotel - one of the nicest Ive ever stayed at anywhere in the world. Some of the reviews complain about it being far from town, but I think thats actually a good thing as its an oasis and the reality is its only a 5 min ($2) tuk tuk ride to get to town.

“Outstanding Resort”

The Angkor Palace Resort and Spa was outstanding. It is a great place to relax and unwind after a day of visiting the temples in Ankgor Wat and the various attractions in the area. The Accomadations were spacious and seemed to reflect the tropical ambiance of the area. The Staff was attentive and it felt like you were being pampered. The food was an excellent balance between Western and Asian cuisine. The resort is a little further out of the way then some of the other Hotels and Resorts in the area, but this was not an issue. as you get near the grounds, you see this is an excellent place to call home for the time you will spend in the area The pools were great and if you have kids this is an awesome place to come and relax. Transportation to and from the Resort is great, and whereever you were going that day. The staff always helped. I would recommend this Resort

Area recommendations

Cambodia has many great attractions. The Temples, you will not forget, but the country has so much to see. You will be enticed to comeback and see it again and again.

“Beautiful resort”

Very nice resort that incorporates beautiful local design in the buildings. Friendly and efficient staff. Great pool, good spa services and my room was clean and spacious. Internet worked fine in my room. However, food at the hotel is not very good and my bed was quite hard and uncomfortable. Another minus - loud tour groups disrupt the tranquility of such a serene environment.

It was worth getting up early to see the sunrise at Angkor Wat. I hired a guide and driver from the hotel for two full days of sightseeing, and it was totally worth it. They knew when the crowds would arrive at certain sites so they were able to steer me away from peak periods.

“Lovely Stay”

We had a wonderful time here. Everyone on staff was wonderful and accommodating and just generally very pleasant. The pool was wonderful! and we really enjoyed relaxing in the lounge chairs alternating with a dip in what is a beautiful, well kept and not just rectangular waters. This is a lovely place to stay but do be aware that it's not really a walkable walk in to town and most of the other businesses near the resort are other resorts.
