“wait until construction is over!”
overall an average hotel with a good location and decent prices -- but the construction noise drives you mad. wait until they finish whatever wing they are building. the spa is good -- but not at par with a 4 star hotel. the breakfast buffet was really great. the bathrooms need an upgrade -- when you shower there is water everywhere. if you are in siem reap to see ankgor wat for a short while then this place is a good choice. word to the wise -- the cab they use to take you to the airport is there own hotel pick-up truck. and if its raining then your bags get all wet too. grab the number of the cab that takes you to the hotel and call them on your way out. its cheaper and a much better ride.
“Can't wait to go back”
Can't wait to get back to this hotel and SR. Beatiful hotel and awesome pool. Very clean. Hotel staff was very nice and helpful. Decor at the hotel is amazing. Food at breakfast was great also. Beds were a little soft for my liking. But that was the only negative thing about it. Lots of shops around the hotel and easy to find a tuk tuk.
“OK for the price”
The hotel is centrally located to the city and close to the Wat's. The staff is great, but the rooms are a little outdated and dirty.
“Reasonably satisfying stay”
Negatives: Carpet in room was old, dusty and uncomfortable. Shower drainage flow problem. Have to pay (comparing to general Cambodia price rates) for Wifi usage, and Wifi is intermittent. Slow download speed. Cable TV got receptivity problem after a heavy rain. Positives: Free and fresh mineral water in room everyday. Nothing was stolen from room, though we also made sure to lock all valuables in safe deposit box in room, and mid-value items kept out of sight as best as possible. The local soup noodles at breakfast was best thing we have eaten, though overall breakfast quality at the hotel not very good, but probably due to local food scarcity. Location in quiet part of city centre, walking distance to major tourist markets, surrounding nearby convenient stores, local eateries and one supermarket. Staff there very friendly and attentive to guests. Pool not very big, but provides reprise from the hot weather and sweaty temple visits.
“Good location!”
Great location, approx 15min from airport and 20min from Angkor. Room was clean and spacious, toiletries and mineral water provided daily. Only minor problem was the shower, which could not be adjusted. Tiny bathtub. Breakfast was good, the station for freshly prepared noodles and omelettes was my favourite part. 10min walk to pub street. Much better location than other hotels closer to angkor, as we could walk to pub street every night for dinner. Recommended!
“Somadevi - perfect for families”
Great place for families who want things close by.
“Great location!”
While there are many luxurious hotels on the road to Angkor, these are isolated and do not provide the opportunity for nice walks in the evening or spontaneous experimentation with local restaurants. Somadevi has a great location, a short walk to the Night Market, many great massage places, close to the very cool Dead Fish Tower restaurant. Hotel has a huge pool with swim-up bar. Breakfast buffet selection very good including nice noodle soups and khao tom/joke along with Western specialties, many prepared fresh at cooking stations. Staff courteous and helpful. Other centrally localed larger hotels much pricier.
“Dont hesitate! The best budget hotel you can get .”
Very nice hotel. Exactly what you need in a city like Siem Reap if you are expecting to spend your time at Angkor and all the temples around and not in a hotel. The location is superb and walking distance from the pub street where you can find the local bars and night markets. Dont expect a fancy room but a good one where you can have a good and decent (meaning very clean) rest after a mangnificent day at the temples.
“very good for the price”
We were very satisfied. The staff was polite, spoke some English, arranged the tours for us.
“It's worth the money”
It appeared to be a fairly new hotel, food was good, employees very helpful, a short walk to the center of town and the markets and about a 20 minute ride to Angkor Wat.
